My name is Jacob. I am a christian though sometimes I worry I'm not a good one. I struggle to be a good person and doubt I'm good enough. A year ago my parents decided we were going to move believing it was what God wanted, and they think that it was more for me and my brothers than for them. We have been here for a year and nothing has really changed or gotten better. Sometimes I think it is because I'm not good enough. I just need your opinions and motivation i guess is what I'm trying to say. Any advice?

Hello Jacob, how old are you?
Understand that we all fall short of God's glory to be a "good person" on our own. One thing you need to be careful of is that you don't fall in the trap of religion, which is living without that relationship with Jesus but following a bunch of rules and laws because you know you have to. Christian maturity all comes from God's Grace and power working through you and so for God to do this, we must submit to him and serve him with all our hearts because he gave EVERYTHING to be with us. The way to live not in a religious world, is to just come honest before God and just surrender to him because you want to get closer to him. Jacob remember no one is perfect, but the more we give to God, the more he strengthens us, we can't do this alone at our own strength because that's religion and it will drain you and unmotivate you. I'm happy to continue to support you bro

Hello Jacob, welcome to Christian Chat! :)

I am sorry you have received so few responses to your post yet. There are quite a few very wise young Christians here, and many of them would no doubt tell you that none of us are good enough, which is one of the reasons why we are so grateful to have been called out by God to receive His gift of salvation, which none of us deserve. One thing I would suggest is to start looking for ways to serve the body of Christ. Do you have a home church you attend regularly?

Hi Jacob. Learn to befriend yourself instead of viewing yourself as not good enough. Things happen but it is not always somebody's fault. Blaming is a dead end street and will not gain anything at all. Also pray for your parents, they are probably doing everything they can and blaming them will not help. Just do your best, hope for the best and may things in your life get better soon.

Hey Jacob! You've realized you can't do it on your own; that's a great step! None of us were good enough on our own. That's why Jesus Christ came to die. I'd invite you to read the gospels again with that idea in mind. I love what Martin Luther said about this:

Imitation does not make us sons, it is sonship that makes us imitators.

Basically, give yourself to God FIRST. After that, look to Him and follow His example. Not because you want to be good enough, but because you're His son and you want to please your Father.

" Do you have a home church you attend regularly?"

I attend a church every Sunday with my family. As for my age as asked by someone else, I am 15 coming up on 16.

Thank you all for the support, just seeing people were able to listen is amazing. To know that this works is just so awesome. When i got on here I didn't think anyone would be there to help or that anyone would even bother. Thank you all for the support and prayers.

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins

Thank you, Jake

We are not good enough is the reason a Loving creator took the blame for His creation.
"Not by might, nor by power but by My Spirit sais the Lord." God knows it's by His Spirit and it's up to us to come to Him daily. "His mercies are new every Morning: Great is your Faithfulness. The good news is the war will get worse and we will need more power of the Holy Spirit: There will be a time of trouble and revival such as never was, or should I say its here already. either way don't feel left out, God is no respecter of person, the word "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you," is for "Whoever will, let him come and drink of the water of life freely." We live in "Uncertain times," and God knows, "where sin abounds, grace much more abounds." Not how many times we fall, but how many times we get up after the fall, "A righteous man falls 7 times (completely) and gets up again. I did not count how may times I fell, neither does God, "Love keeps no record of wrong." But if I was to guess how many times I got up, approximately the amount of days I have lived, even when I was in addiction I still prayed and the Lord still spoke to me.

Hi,
No one is good and no one can be good on their own. Our trying to be good or self righteousness is filthy rags in God's eyes. Humility is the first step towards knowing God and knowing God is all there is.
Accepting we are not good is a manifestation of humility and i believe God will perform His good works in us if we continue with the faith.
