Ok, well, thought id finally ask this in the forum...

Basically, ive always wondered and could never understand, just how do you know that god actually cares about you? just because the bible says so? or is there another way to know this? and why do you trust him? also, how do you kno that ur belief is the right one? i mean alot of others have beliefs and think that they are right too, but they can't all be right...i kno the bible says god cares and that u shud trust him and that christianity is the one true belief...but is that the only reason u believe this? or is there other reasons too? if so, id like to kno them...

Because frankly, the whole "cuz the bible says so" thing, just doesnt work for me...so mayb i will find some other reasons that are more convincing...i kno "faith" has alot to do with it but i'm hoping to run across something a bit more um, "real", than that...

Anyway, ive talked about this with some ppl in chat but thought id post it here for all to see so i cud get a greater variety of responses (hopefully) ... and i posted it in teens cuz im a teen but of course anyone can answer...

Thank you for your time and looking forward to reading ur responses! :D

DARKVOIIIIIID!! haha havent spoke to u for ages lol lol hmm well lemme answer this Q

its not only because bible says that, i had never read my bible when i was blind, but Jesus has saved me because of His Graces, His loves, etc :)

He came to this world because He loves us..

alot of others have beliefs and think that they are right BUT no one says like Jesus said... John 14:6 ' I am the truth and the life; no one can comes to the Father but through me'

Jesus isnt only a healer, a hero or etc, but He's the awesome God :)

My Friend, the day you do not look for a sign is the day you get a sign. Even though I believed in the Lord I said ''Lord in your own way, please reveal yourself to me. I Don't mind when or how, but I pray that you reveal yourself so there is no doubt in my mind.'' He answered my prayer. If Jesus did not care about us then he surely would not have died for us.

Hey Dark Void

I believe in God because of his word really, verses, God's word made me question myself... because I'd read verses and say this is good stuff, thou shall not murder, thou shall not lie, thou shall not steal, thou shall not commit adultary....and I remember when I was a teenager and it wasnt too long ago.. I'm just 24 that I'd say the same exact things YOU said.. except I'd say... "there's an infinite amount of possibilities how do I know?"

I got tensed up one day... you see I used to struggle greatly with racism.. and I was thinking if there is no God to make Justice for the evil things done in the past... I'd take Justice into my own hands. Extreme yeah... so I was angry I wanted to know and I figured... I'd give God what he wanted from me to test him... give God some faith. I wanted a sign, so I prayed and asked for one and said if he did I'd dedicate my life to him and if he didnt I'd never believe in him again, I meant it ... and I got a sign, and that did it.. I couldnt rightfully deny God anymore.. I have no reason to deny God nomatter what... God is real, he answered my prayer... how can I deny God now?

Just read the Bible, I think that's the best advice I can give you and be realistic about it.

Be open to God... because your gonna need him for all this. God was willing to die for you.. out of love... that alone should ease the tension of whatever doubts your dealing with. PM me if want too.

I became a believer from doing this. I looked up at the sky one day, I remember exact the moment and where I was, I just plainly said if there is a god or anything that exists, whatever is up there I want to know you and who you are.

About two weeks later I accepted Christ as my Savior. I've been a believer for like 10 plus years now.

I think from what I'm reading God has already answered you, you just don't like the answer. It's your choice, however, God will never force any of us to do anything, which is a great thing!

Bless and I hope you choose to come to know the peace that comes from knowing Christ. <3

jajja24: it depends on which girl u r talking about lol xD frankly im not sure what love is or feels like, but yea...and idk if my parents r really my parents, mayb i was adopted lol idk...

Matthew4Jesus: actually im not sure what im looking for...am i looking for a sign? at first i just wanted answers from god, but now idk...idk what i want from god now...im not even sure what im looking for anymore, things have gotten so confusing... (and yes i kno i repeated myself lol)

Calmador: yea, the bible does have some good guidelines in it...many i dont agree with and feel are too strict, but yea...plus the bible hasnt been much help so far...but i havent read all of it yet so idk...

BrittanyJones: well, truthfully i havent received any answers that i like, mayb im just looking for the answers that i want to hear...and god did force us to exist without asking us if we want to exist...but i guess he cudnt have asked us until after he created us anyway...which defeats the purpose lol xD blah! idk...

Well, as usual, thx for the replies!

God is REAL. I know because I have a relationship with him. I talk to him and he talks to me. My relationship with God is just that- it is between me and God and has absolutely nothing to do with ppl or what they think. Just because some1 doesn't believe something to be true does not change the reality of it. Man denying God the Creator is like the clay denying the potter, it is unreal and it just doesn't make sense. It really doesn't matter how many responses your post gets or what ppl tell you, until you make the decision to get right with God and get to know him for yourself, noone will be able to convince you. But I can assure you that if you seek God and you are serious, your life will change and so will you. Time is short, tomorrow is promised to noone. The next breath you take could be your very last and if you haven't made the decision to give yourself to God, when you step into eternity you will believe all that you have denied but then it will be too late to make it right.

Well i think it by faith u know that your parents are your parents. and yes many will bage fore the sign with a commitment that nothing will come and so i think nothing will come.Well i dont think u luck faith but i do think u luck faith in Christ Jesus. and well while i have hope that u might get conviced by the holly spirit so u accept jesus in your life i dont think it is allabout evidence u will be saved by...its seems not to be the issue..and also maybe it isnt the time God has seached u ...and i dont think u can seach God..cause he is not hidding anywhere ....tho no man power needed, its God seaching u ..hope u get it right!

so. If u realy wanna know God..cause im sure God wanna know u;) so why not beggin with taking contact? It the very begining of each and every relationship. Take a call to God: if u dont know how to pray just do like one of his fellowers : Say.. God/father/Loard/pappa/creator... Teach me to pray.. just that will be enough as a prayer! Goodluck ..God bless u!

One of the biggest testimonies of God's existence and the work of the Holy Spirit today is CHANGED LIVES. Read some testimonies of people who turned their lives around 180 degrees. Very powerful!

I actually said something like this in the chat room to DarkVoid, maybe he remembers. I said, "How do you know that your mom cares?"

It is true that you might not be able to be POSITIVE that your mom cares about you, but you can be pretty doggone sure. ;)
in my mind everyone is headed towards eternal darkness and there's no way to save anyone.
Let's assume for a moment that this is indeed true. Let's say that, when I die, I go to the same place as everyone else.

As far as I know, I'm not following God in the hopes of some eternal reward, as much as I'm doing it for the pure, unbridled, flaming JOY it gives me while I'm on Earth. My relationship with Jesus is absolutely the most valuable thing I have in the world. And I'm sure this would be difficult to understand for someone who hasn't experienced what I'm talking about. After I've tasted life on this side of the cross, it would be pointless and depressing to go back.

By the way, the bible actually talks about the "what if" of life without heaven afterward, I thought I'd point it out for ya:
"For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied."

Even if I did believe there was a possibility that God playing me for a sucker and using me as a pawn in some kind of game, my decision to follow Him remains the same. Because if I have peace, hope, joy, and some of the most incredible experiences while I'm on Earth, that (at least in my mind) means that I've "won".

surrender2God: I see...well my stance has changed, at first I was looking to be convinced but now I realize that's not possible but I'm still interested in hearing what u all have to say cuz many have their own unique views on the same topic, so yea interesting to hear diff opinions...

jajja24: yea I think its not just evidence I am looking for...but something more...if that makes sense, and that's just it, I wanna kno who god really is not just who he says he is, if they r 2 diff things...

Lucy68: yes, I have read some and will continue to do so from time to time...

PopClick: haha, yea I remember and shush :p anyway, so basically you are ok with a temporary reward, but I'm not, I want/need something eternal but I also want/need that eternal thing to be what I want it to be...so I guess that's the prob...

And again, thx 4 the replies!

I thought we agreed that you'd do all the shushing :p

But what if a temporary reward was all you could get? (It isn't, but let's just say that it is.) Is that not better than nothing?

One final point, nobody knows what heaven will be like. And I'm not going to debate what heaven will be like. But how do you know that you don't want something... if you've never had it? For example, if you had grown up in the 1940s, and I said, "Hey Jay, in the next century, there will be this awesome video game called Resident Evil, isn't that something cool to look forward to?"

And you would say, "I don't want that. I want to play baseball."

"But, how do you know that you don't want it? You've never even HAD it!"

"Because all I want is to play baseball forever. Nothing else."

Anyway, I don't want to sound like I'm picking on you. Just sharing my thoughts on what was said, that's all.

I remember seeking for something to fill that void inside. I tried to fill that space with ppl, habits, and a bunch of junk that just wasn't what I was looking for only to wake up the next morning and still fill empty. I remember laying awake at night so terrified of the noises I heard and the things that I saw in the darkness of the night that I wasn't able to go to sleep because I thought something or some1 would hurt me or take me outta the house once I fell asleep. The problem wasn't that there was anybody n my house waiting to get me, the problem was that I was bound by fear and had no peace. But all of that changed one night when I went to church with a friend that stayed after me for a long time. I met Jesus Christ at the altar that night and he changed my life. He changed me and my only regret about accepting Jesus Christ is that it took me 28 years of searching for all the wrong things to fill the space that God created for himself to dwell.

Personally I'd say all of the guidelines are... too strict for us to follow by ourselves. Literally God's guidelines/standards are perfection. That's the whole point of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, to help us. Anyways which guidelines are you talking about? The ones that are too strict and don't agree with?
