My girlfriend of a year left me for another guy, backstabbed me in the process and lied about seeing him and called him her cousin. It happened a few days ago, I am still feeling so much pain and sorrow...have any of you been through similar? Or does anyone have any suggestions...any help would be appreciated.

Be glad it's over. She obviously doesn't mind lying, or cheating, nor does she care anything about you and your feelings. If she did, she wouldn't have done this. Use this experience to learn from, and immerse yourself in your favorite activities to keep her off your mind. Turn all your hurt and sorrow over to God, and ask Him to remove her from your heart and mind... Get rid of anything she ever gave you. Throw it out, rip it up, burn it, whatever you have to do to get rid of it.

I know it’s not what you want to hear but at your age you are still
working out who you are as a person and what you want. The other people
your age are also working out all this as well.

Its likely that if things get serious, then either yourself or the other person, will
change their mind and/or you will grow out of each other at some point.

Im sorry you are hurting, praying you get over this.

I'm so sorry you got hurt. Yes I certainly know how that feels. You will heal in time and start to feel better. God knows your pain and will be with you and help you, turn to Him. Surround yourself with friends and family who care about you as well. Praying for you now.

She sounds manipulative and i know your feeling very hurt but i am glad you found out the truth. Only the truth can set you free but still forgive her and move on. If she chooses not to apologize and move on with that new guy than it is what it is. Your still young and have a whole lot of life ahead of you. Keep moving forward and forget the past.

It hurts. Honesty is important for a relationship. When I was dating I told the guy I would rather he just break up with me than cheat on me, because we could still be friends of we are honest but after cheating...then the trust is gone.

Sorry she betrayed your trust. It hurts now but give your heart time to heal before jumping into a new relationship...but don't let it make your heart hard and bitter. There is a girl meant for you out there, just trust God and pray.
.it may take a few years.

Satan meant this situation for evil but the Lord meant it for good. I had a serious relationship out of high school and into college and was cheated on and eventually realized that the Lord delivered me out of Catholicism. This may (will probably) sting for a long time, but surrender completely to the Lord and he will heal your heart.

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 KJV
"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." James 1:2-4 KJV

Friend: This is old. I imagine you may not know who Paul Harvey was. Research it. You are a better person for this in the end. A stronger, wiser, more compassionate soul. God allows things in our lives to make us better. And sometimes they hurt so very much.

Paul Harvey - to his grandchildren

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse.
For my grandchildren, I'd know better.
I'd really like for them to know about hand-me-down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf. I really would.
My cherished grandson, I hope you learn humility by being humiliated and that you learn honesty by being cheated.
I hope you learn to make your bed and mow the lawn and wash the car-and I hope nobody gives you a brand-new car when you are 16. And I hope you have a job by then.
It will be good if at least one time you can see a baby calf born and see your old dog put to sleep.
I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.
I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother. And it is alright to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared - I hope you'll let him.
And when you want to see a Disney movie and your kid brother wants to tag along, I hope you take him.
I hope you have to walk uphill with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely. And rainy days when you have to hitch a ride...
I hope your driver doesn't have to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with somebody as uncool as your mom.
If you want a slingshot I hope your father teaches you how to make one instead of buy one.
I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books, and when you learn to use those new-fangled computers, you also learn how to add and subtract in your head.
I hope you get razzed by friends when you have your first crush on a girl, and that when you talk back to your mother, I hope you learn what Ivory soap tastes like. (Amen)
May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on the stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.
I hope you get sick when some stupid old person blows cigar smoke in your face.
I don't care if you try beer once, but I hope you won't like it. And if a friend offers you a joint or any dope, I hope you are smart enough to realize he is not your friend.
I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your grandpa or go fishing with your uncle.
May you feel sorrow at a funeral and the joy of holidays. I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through a neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Christmas time when you give her a plaster of Paris mold of your hand.
These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work, and happiness.
