Hey All:

My school is close to a major research university so we have a lot of professor kids (I'm one lol). Needless to say, being next to this university we have people from all over the world with all sorts of beliefs. A lot of the people are really intelligent so I tend to have a lot of good, friendly and respectful discussions with people of various faiths and beliefs.

Given that I was just wondering what everyone's background is in terms of their school.

I go to a public school that's especially for "smart" kids. Our athletic and music programs win a lot too. I don't know many Christians and most of my close friends are not so plz pray that I would be a good witness.

Most of my friends aren't Christians either. Praying for you my friend. Show them the love of Christ. If they ever ask you a question about Christianity seize the opportunity. If you are worried that they will attack your faith on scientific grounds I would advise listening to John Lennox, a brilliant christian apologist from Britain. Good luck and God bless! :)

I go to a small private school and most of the kids are not christians. There is this one girl that i've been talking to and she seems to be coming around! Our athletic department isn't great, but you get to play a lot. Some of the kids do attack me because of my belief, but I don't let it get me down. BigFriendlyApologist, i'll have to try him out! Is there a particular teaching you would recommend?

Personally I use scientific, philosophical and historical arguments in combination with formal logic (premises and conclusions) when I am teaching and/or debating the subject. I find that most atheists are more inclined to listen if you present actually evidence. Much of my arguments are modifications of WLC and John Lennox with more science added. I'm a bit of a science nerd :) But none of those will help if you don't go out and meet atheists and befriend them. Honestly try to become friends with them, not merely to convert them. Some of my best friends are atheists and I honestly don't try to convert them on a daily basis. "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect," (1 Peter 3:15). This is what I try to live by and with my evidence, I am ready to answer if they have any questions about what I believe and generally we have a friendly discussion and most are impressed or at least think that I may be justified in my theism. Whew... that was long lol :)

My school is like a private school, but not really.
We have a small group of christians here, and all of our parents teach one thing or another (eg. my grandma teaches science, my mom teaches math, and one of my friends dads teaches reading, my literature teacher is a christian from england and is also our pastors wife). We don't have specific grade classes either. When we learn math, we learn it all together, but with different grades of homework and text books. I go to my math class, and I'm in 11th grade, but there will be 7th graders in the same class, but every grade is learning from a text book of their own grade level (I'm learning from an 11th grade text book, and the 7th graders are learning from a 7th grade text book).
That's how my school works, and I like it that way. We have never had any bullies, because everyone there is like family.

Different but really cool. So is it like a massive home school program?

Yes, absolutely. That's actually what I normally tell people when they ask if I do homeschool.
