I get that it's wrong to have sex with others of your gender, as it states so clearly in the Bible. But what it doesn't clarify is why marriage between two of the same sex is forbidden. What damage will it do, or what good will it not do that a normal marriage would? I'm not LGBTQ myself, nor do I believe that homosexuality is anything but a curse laid on mankind, but I want to understand why it's a bad idea in God's eyes.
Hi laoshanlung,

I dunno, this might be helpful, but maybe not. It's the closest I can come to for an answer as to why.

Romans 1:18-32

These verses help explain God's heart about homosexuality, but it isn't specific only to homosexuality. It covers everyone no matter what their sin is.

God's wrath comes upon mankind because of ungodliness and unrighteousness.
Why?
1. they suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
2. that which is know about God is evident within them because God made it evident to everyone. Keep in mind that all have sinned and fall short of God's glory.

So here's another way how mankind knows God, how God made it evident.

He made it evident through the creation of the world. Through what's been made we clearly see:

1. His invisible attributes
2. His eternal power
3. His divine nature

This is why everyone who goes before God at the day of judgement are without excuse.

In the first paragraph beginning with verse 18, we have an internal witness. God placed within mankind the knowledge of God. God made it evident. Evident means that God made it visible, He manifested this truth within the core of our being.

In the 2nd paragraph, God says that creation itself tells us there is God our creator. So it's just like we have in the OT, every testimony is established by the witness or 2 or 3, we have 2 witnesses. # 1 is that God Himself put that knowledge within mankind - we all know there's a God even those who are atheists know there's God and #2 is the creation itself screams at the top of its lungs that there's a God.

So now God explains a little more for us. Even though! Even though what? Even though they knew God. So everyone knows God. From the worst sinner to the best saint, we all know that there's God. So even though they knew God:

1.
They did not honor Him as God.
2. They did not give thanks.

But they did do something, what was it they did?

1. they became futile in their speculations and their foolish hearts were hardened.
2. by professing to be wise they became fools.
3. they exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and birds and four-footed animals and crawly creatures.

So because they rejected their knowledge of God, He gives them over. Over to what?

1. to the lust of their hearts to impurity so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
2. exchanging the truth for a lie.
3. worshipping and serving the creature instead of our Creator.
4. to degrading passions
5. exchanging the natural function of the body for the unnatural, burning in desire for those of the same sex committing indecent acts.
6. receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

God is still giving them over to something throughout these verses because they didn't acknowledge God any longer. God gave them over to:
- a depraved mind
- to do things that aren't proper.

They are so filled with unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife,
deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, merciful and although they know the ordinances of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they do the same things and lavish approval to those who practice the same things.

So although homosexuality is wrong, so are all these other sins as well. It's almost like God is showing us just how depraved each one of us are without God. It makes me so grateful, thankful and overwhelmingly appreciative of the fact that God has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light. To think that we were so depraved as it's described here, but God in His loving kindness drew us out of they icky mud and lifted us high on a hill, the hill of Golgotha where Jesus died for us and we died with Him and He rose to new life and we rose with Him to new life in Him.

So there's your answer. Why is marriage of the same sex wrong? Because God is holy and we aren't. And all sin sends us to hell because we've rejected God, because we knew Him and we openly commit idolatry and begin erecting idols of ourselves and every living thing that God created.

Mankind as a whole would rather bow down to an ant or a spider, a cactus or a rose, a panther or a horse, the eagle or a falcon, etc. than to God almighty. So man continues to decline to the miry pit of sin and evil. It all starts by denying there's God our creator and mankind continues to sink into the cesspool of iniquity.

So here in Romans we see that homosexuality is unnatural. God created the man and took Even from his side. The two were truly one flesh because Eve was created from Adam while Adam was created from the dust of the earth.

God did not create two men or two women, He created one male and one female and told them to take dominion over the earth and to be fruitful and multiply. It's God's design, He determines what's holy, righteous and good, He's Creator........we're not!

Yeah, but what if your family is an evil cult of devil worshippers who stalks you around with an intelligence agency to assist them and works to scare away any progress you might make toward life goals or building healthy relationships with people by networking? What if they want to FORCE you to be gay or keep it in the family?

...

Real situation.

That sounds extremely scary and difficult. God, however is stronger than the devil. He always has been, and He always will be. In this sort of extreme situation it probably takes a lot (and I mean a LOT) of prayer, and maybe a complete break with the family.
