Nothing in this world can be compared to the joy of knowing God and walking in His covenant promises. Because we are His children, we are able to live in the inheritance the blood of Jesus secured for us. The heart of that inheritance involves knowing our God intimately and being inseparably connected to His Spirit, Who lives inside us. Personally experiencing the power of His love and life flowing into our spirits, is a privilege we are able to enjoy every moment of each day. It's not a benefit to be experienced once in a while, and then neglected and forgotten about, until a crisis hits. Just the same, the light and life and wisdom that flows from God's Word, being alive in our hearts, should be our source of health and peace every single day.

The Word is not just to be used when trouble lurks. Being consistent in spending time with the Lord in His Word each day, will keep us in the centre of His will. That's because His Word gives us practical wisdom to live by. It also provides us with a confidence to expect His favor and enjoy His protection. Psalms 97:11 says, "Light is sown for the [uncompromisingly] righteous and strewn along their pathway, and joy for the upright in heart [the irrepressible joy which comes from consciousness of His favor and protection]. When we decide to be consistent concerning the things of God, we become increasingly mindful and conscious of His favor and protection, which brings a joy that can never be quenched!
