Hey guys I sorta new to Christianity as I've just accepted Christ into my life but a few months ago. I started to read the Bible cover to cover but I've heard that this isn't the best way to approach it. Anyone have any suggestions of certain parts I should read first or even favorite sections that maybe I should read? Thanks!

P.S. I'm so excited to strengthen my faith, and every day it seems to be a little stronger. Joining this chat site really helped me :D

I have found that John is a good book to start with.

First would like to say that is AWESOME! that you have accepted Christ.

As hard as it sounds, in the beginning you will face a lot of difficult situations...so I would not only read but start memorizing whatever scripture verse the Lord leads you to...I like this from one of the letters:

Be vigilant, stay firm in the faith, be brave and stong; let everything you do be done in love.

I would also suggest Hebrews, because I believe it to be a summary of the whole Bible...and though its complicated, devote yourself to go through all of it in a reading session, and keep going over and praying over the things you do not understand until God gives light to your mind...I also think the Psalms are an amazing help for anyone, even as Jesus mentions them when he is dying on the cross...

I hope this helps...

And may the Lord perfect you in the Way of His Son

Be sure to look at the Gospels; they're full of Christ's teachings, and we live in a time when many churches focus more on Paul's teachings about Christ.

So glad to hear you accepted christ :D
Amen.

Well i started reading proverbs when i became a new born christian =) (i grew up christian because my parents were but then i started departing then God pulled me back to hi & im soooooo glad he loves me sooo much to have done so =D )
Proverbs in my opinion are the simplest words to understand, In order to understand certaing things in the bible you need Real Wisdom that only God can give.
But proverbs was the mostly easiest part to understand for me, i understand more things in the bible now but back then i dint,
Proverbs is about "Words of teaching people how to behave & how to build up their character in human life."
It mostly tells you right from wrong.
Like the perverse mouth is of a fool while the wisdom words are from a righteous =)

Read one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John), and then read the rest of the New Testament.

Another alternative could be to get the bible on audio. You can get CDs or mp3s or a combination of both.

I have found this to be an excellent tool when I'm driving. I figure I'm always in the car, I might as well make constructive use of the time spent there. Also, you'd be amazed how much more you absorb that way. It's almost like watching a movie again for the second or third time. You pick up so many little things you missed the 'first' time through.

Yes, Bible audio is very good for you. I have both the illustrated (music) and unillustrated versions. I've noticed that i have better recall with the illustrated version. The old left side, right side brain thingy i guess. At anyrate these are very good for any long trips or even whenever your taking a quick jot to the grocery store. God bless and good luck.

Ooooh, and not only can you get 'illustrated' you can get 'dramatised' which is like full sound effects.

eg: it has the sounds of waves when it mentions the ocean, birds in the garden of eden, female voice speaking when it's a queen/female character...

I really like dramatised, it makes it soo much more realistic. You can almost imagine yourself there :)
