Can someone explain why it is going to move across from west to east?

There is some explanations around but I want to hear from anyone with insight.
This shows exactly what will happen...

You're welcome..

hehe... NASA is not meant to be too reliable...

but, thank you.
ha!

well, we'll see tomorrow if the math - which is globally understood & doesn't just belong to NASA in any way - works out and the prediction is sound.

but as for our little flat-earth crowd?

where's their diagrams of the orbit of the moon? where's their eclipse predictions? those things don't exist in their world. they can't even explain how the sun rose this morning, or how the moon has phases that the whole earth sees as being the same at the same time. there's your "
not too reliable" group.

i made a little diagram to illustrate how daft this idea is:

I actually understand
do you, Gary? do you, really?

The hype surrounding it and many drawing parallels with it probably cause hysteria.

Not long until it comes to pass and we most likely will be looking back at the non eventful eclipse.. GOD knows.

I don't know if it will trigger any earthquake... or if Yellowstone will erupt...
That is what "just kills me" about all of the hype...

How is it that a shadow cast on the surface of the Earth is going to trigger an earthquake or some other such thing?

If anything happens during or after this event, it will have been caused to happen - and, I do not mean - by 'nature' or "the hand of God"...

Yes. Yes, I really do - as a matter of fact. However, that does not mean that - just because I am able to visualize something ( based on what I have been taught ) - it does not make it true...

then why don't you at least know the difference between how fast an orbiting or rotating body's path subtends an angle and how fast it covers a linear distance?

I am able to visualize something ( based on what I have been taught )

could you please explain how you think the moon moves?

what its position and path is as a function of time?

in a way that matches reality, as observed on every point on earth?

a consistent model that is usable for prediction.

because, i've never seen a 'flat earth' model of lunar motion that makes any sense. none can explain lunar or solar eclipses, phases, rising and setting, tides, change in apparent angular diameter. visibility in daylight and night. certainly not all of those established characteristics, no two things simultaneously, and hardly any single one of them satisfactorily.

if flat earth is the truth, there ought to be a working model that fully explains all of the moon's observed motion and appearance. like the planetary model does - it explains every detail perfectly, with precise, verifiable prediction demonstrated thousands of times over.

you say you can visualize these things, and that you understand them: you could go down in history as i know it as the first person to ever explain a working lunar model for flat earth. please, enlighten us?

The theory is that the fault lines can be hindered... and the tide can rise..

Today is the day.. the hype can stop and the eclipse can pass.

Obviously.. like you say something could be done and blamed on the eclipse...

You all have contributed something and I thank you all... I know GOD said they are for signs and seasons but so many questions come from answers.. I feel like I'm chasing the wind.. hehe

i have with my own eyes witness things strange to me.. but they may not be strange to another.

May you all be blessed and let us know your experience in good time.

I should have included 'video' in that statement.

So -- pictures, video, whatever-you-can-do-to-capture-it -- especially if you happen to be in somewhere along the "path of totality" - as it is called.

We watched it live on to.. what was the red planet in front of moon? We only caught a glimpse but you could see it move across

There are no planets between the Earth and the Moon :)
