I've just now gotten around to wondering WHY it takes me 3 days to make a grocery list.

I think...my brain might be busted. If that's the case, any sentence I start with "I think..." is invalid.

Oh man.

*looks at wisebeardman's avatar* You could make pancakes and fried bunny. Don't laugh! We have entire restaurants devoted to chicken and waffles. It could be the next new thing :)

Creeeeeeeeeeeesten! You asked for recipes! Many people replied. You said you chose.

Update update update! Did you try? Much success?

(I do NOT know why, but I went into Cowboy Bebop Edward mode for this post. I swear, I am not a girl.)

<------------------ This guy was a total Bebop junkie when it was first distributed in North America. I have all of the soundtracks, and I've actually spent some time with Steve Blum and Beau Billingsley (English VAs for Spike and Jet) when I worked AnimeCentral in 2004. I rewrote Tank! so that my university's basketball pep band could play it (and they did, because they were hardcore like that).

In the interest of time, I'm going to list food types.

Thai

Chinese

Mexican

Northern Italian Yes. There's a difference between northern and southern Italian food. Most of what we call Italian is northern.

Indian (at least what I've had so far)

All the usual American stuff

Some sea food

As a informal cooking instructor, I'd like to encourage you to slow down. I think that may be one of the reasons you burn things. Well, that and your expectation for perfection. Like all things you have to practice. If you were sitting down for your first piano lesson, would you expect to play one of Chopin's pieces with agility? Nope. You'd be introduced to middle C and go from there. It's the same with cooking. If I was your instructor we would start with some simple science, I'd teach you about knives, and you would make only ONE thing, no where near a meal time. I think you need to relax, take a deep breath, and cut yourself some serious slack.

Oooh...knives! Fun!

You know, I never considered how much of a rush I get in. Not just with trying to cook things waaaay out of my skill range, but also, I get to doing a bunch of stuff right before I should start dinner, then I'm in a hurry to just get something, anything, cooked, and...

Yep, I totally kill dinner. Yay me.

Seriously, Arwen, every time you dig an elbow into my side, I crack up. Your official title should be Arwen, Heckler of Shour! ^_^

Alright, I'm driving out to CO. when this quarter is over. I will make you into Julia Child's twin, and there will be good food to be had. I'll email you my arrival time. I'm driving out there because, road trip! Duh! I'll pick up Shour on the way out there if he's game.

Seriously, if someone could actually teach me how to cook, I would cry. Joyfully. Out of gratitude.

...so would my husband...

Easier for us to just converge. You go east, I go north. I'mma teach her my quick, almost un-do-wrong-able no-recipe recipes.
