"The Spirit of God in a believer is like a forest fire, burning up the old, and restarting with the new."

Once a person believes in the gospel, his heart will soon be on fire for the Lord. By faith being saved he will receive the Holy Spirit, which should in fact, change the believers old lifestyle, to a brand new one.

"For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead." - James 2:26 NASB

Don't you remember when you were in your earlier years as a believer, how powerful the fire of God moved in you when you first believed? Most people wonder where did that all go, even though they aren't any less of a believer. Where did that great passion go as time moved on? Some still experience that amazing fire burning up inside them!

It's like a forest fire, when we first believed it caught us on fire in a wide spread. Great works, changed lifestyle and everything happening so quickly through our lives. Though this improvement hasn't really stopped, this feeling when we first believed slowed down. We everyday are improving, removing the fifth in our imperfect life through the Spirit, who gave us life through Christ Jesus. We may not feel it all the time, but we sure believe it and see it through our lives.

The fire hasn't stopped. Not at all. The Spirit of God is the fire in the believer, whether you feel it or not. Some feel it through the gifts they have, by feeling of the Spirit (such as prophecy) which helps validate it so it won't be mistaken as mere head knowledge or assumption.

May the Spirit of God continue to rest on you, burning up the sin and the fifth in your life, as a continuing fire till the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless!!! :)

"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus" - Philippians 1:6 NASB

It's not possible to stay passionate for long. We have hedonic set points that we return to over time, no matter how emotionally happy or unhappy we get. You may feel "reborn" in the spirit one day, but there's only so long that you can keep that going before you're emotionally drained and back to "normal".

So... don't feel bad if you "lose that fire" for God. It doesn't make you a bad person... it just makes you a person.

The refiners fire.

There was a lot, A LOT, of refining going on in the beginning. Burning off of dross.

As all the junk falls away there is less to burn. The bonfire in the beginning is down to embers. Consuming the last of the stubborn, hard to reach places...

Its not possible to stay passionate for long... whoever told you that is a liar. Just think about the first time your heart was hurt by another. No matter how long ago it was you still remember it. Same with the first time your heart was healed. No matter how long ago it was you will still remember it.

In our lukewarm churches of today, it is true, it is hard to stay passionate. There is so much of the world brought into the church, and a passionate person has their entire life absorbed by their loved one. In our churches are bingo games, potlucks without worship a part of them, talent shows with the talent about the world.

On Monday morning, we have nothing we are allowed to do except give money that we are led to do to tell our loved one of our devotion. The rare person here and there includes God in their morning talk, but even that isn't encouraged.

Our church says that our life is of the flesh. That works won't save us. That any work has to do with the law and we are under grace not law. So our work isn't to be the kind we can see.

It is like marrying our love, but saying I can't live with you dear. I can give you my paycheck, see you once a week, but nothing else is allowed.

[h=3]Revelation 2[/h]2 “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:

These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. 6 But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

I heard a woman say once about young passionate christians: "Oh...they'll calm down sooner or later."

Broke my heart to hear that....

Whomever "told me that"? I cited it with a link that cited a study that followed both lottery winners and people made into paraplegics, and in both situations the study subjects returned to their old habitual emotions despite their new circumstances that we feel intuitively *should* have changed their general outlook.

My heart has been hurt before, but you and I are both aware that the feeling goes away. "Remembering it" is not the same as still feeling those emotions that we felt at the time that it happened. Experience has taught us that passions dull over time, and research confirms it.

Starcrash, as you are not Christian, you are not really qualified to comment.

Do you ever become UNBORN after your mother gives birth to you?

Those who have been BORN AGAIN know that it is MORE than just feelings and does not Ever go away or dull over time.
