We Believe
1. In one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
2. Jesus, is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as intercessor.
3. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness.
4. Justification, regeneration and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
5. Sanctification is subsequent to the new birth, through faith on the blood of Christ, through the Word and by the Holy Ghost followed by lifelong growth in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
6. Holiness to be the standard of living for all His people. 7. In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
8. In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
9. That all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
10. Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
11. In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air; Second, to reign on earth a thousand years.
12. In the bodily resurrection: eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked.
13. It is the responsibility of every believer to dedicate his or her life to carrying out the work of the Great Commission.

This sounds like your church or a particular denominations statement of faith, not an out line for all Christinanity, although I do agree with most of it I do have a few questions.
#1 If Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is a different person from the Father, wouldn't that make the Holy Spirit Jesus' ''Dad'', and not God the Father?
#2 It sound like from point 11 that you believe in two 2nd comings? Is this what you really believe?
#3 What about believing that the bible is the inirrant word of God? That is not even on your list.

Does it say in the Bible that speaking in tongues is the first proof of conversion?

Not of conversion but of initial evidence of being baptised in the Spirit, see Acts 8, 10 and 11.

Dino there's two ways the Holy Spirit works in a believers life. Both were prophesied in the old testament and referred to as separate experiences, although they may occur at the same time. The first is regeneration or being "born again". This is receiving the Spirit for salvation. The second is the outpouring of the Spirit, this is called "baptism in the Spirit" and this is what tongues usually comes with. At least, tongues occurred in the examples given in Acts 8, 10, and 11. This is receiving the Spirit as a Helper for service and ministry as Christ promised to send them the Spirit after He ascended - which He did at Pentecost (Acts 1).

They were seperate experiences for the dsiciples, who were not baptised in the Spirit until Pentecost. Some believers had both things happen at the same time, as in Acts 10 and 11. Others, as in Acts 8, had them happen at different times.

For most of us today, it is like Acts 8 - because most protestant churches only baptise in water and don't practice baptising people in the Spirit by laying on of hands like the apostle Paul did.

Nice post. Don't worry, there's always others that disagree at least somewhat, and some that disagree totally. Go with what the Lord tells you on things,we're all intitled to our beliefs, opinions, etc. and only we know what the Lord says to us...by saying that, I mean what He says to each individual....not saying I do or don't totally agree or anything. Just for the record.:D God bless!

I agree with you Stand_Up, we should go with what the Lord tells us, the thing is the Lord did not tell him these things. His church/denomination did.

Well, I don't think we can say that the Lord didn't give anyone something. Considering he's a pastor himself, I'd say it's possible the Lord did give him things. Not saying He did or didn't, but that it's possible is all. I understand and see your point though. So no worries :)

Watchmen I don't know who gave you the right to tell others who was or wasn't told by the Lord something you know every denomination started with a belief that they believed was given to them by the Lord at sometime.

He copied and pasted this from some church statement of faith. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that.

And where do church statements of faith come from in the first place?

Mostly from the opinions of men. Some are more correct then others. I personally agree with most of what southerner has posted, that does not mean that the Lord delivered him these beliefs rather than they being the SOF of his church.

No those are his personal beliefs, things he wrote himself. He and I have talked about it, that's how I know. That's his personal statement of faith and everything. :D

Well if so I apologize to southerner. After all I am no rocket scientist.... :)

By the way your personal beliefs, and a churches SOF, can be the same.
