Daniel 9:27 says.......And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cease the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

2Thess.2:3,4 says.....Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

I believe this is all still future and neither can happen unless there is a temple. There has never been a seven year period in history as described in Dan.9:27 where a covenant of 7yrs was confirmed with the Jews and their worship ceased after only 3yrs. This will be the Jews final conflict with their last and greatest foe, the Antichrist in the seven-year period of tribulation preceding the end of their chastisements and their establishment in the promised earthly Messianic Davidic Kingdom and their blessed headship over the nations in the millennial Kingdom.

Remember when the temple is re-built they are still in un-belief.

Signing off for the evening. YAWN!
I don't see any scripture that says the Antichrist confirms a covenant with anyone, but according to the bible, Jesus confirmed the covenant God made with Abraham.

Gal_3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

When Jesus came the first time, he confirmed the covenant, he caused animal sacrifices to cease and he cursed Israel and made it desolate.

How does a covenant that was already in existence since Abraham's time turn into a new 7-year peace treaty with Israel?
How does Jesus death on the cross which ended animal sacrifices turn into the antichrist breaking a 7-year peace treaty with Israel?
How does the many (always a reference to the gentiles) turn into the Jews?

I believe there will be a thousand year reign, but I sure don't see animal sacrifices taking place during that time. Shadows are done, the real temple of God is the body of Christ and we will be offering up spiritual sacrifices in it.... whatever that might be.

1Pe_2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

I don't either. People have voiced the opinion that since the temple will have been rebuilt animal sacrifices will continue after Jesus returns, but, they neglect to take into account Dan.9:27 and the fact that after three years into the Tribulation all Temple activity will have ceased.

We know that Israel will mourn when they see Jesus at His return and come to believe in Him so I don't see Temple activity starting up again. We know that in the Heavenly city there will be no temple because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple (Rev.21:22).

Chica how is it that you get a seven year tribulation out of Daniel 7:29?

To start with a covenant is not always between man and diety.

Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh-gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee. 1Sam.11:1

And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league (league is a covenant or treaty) with us. Joshua 9:6

As far back as Genesis men made covenants or agreements with each other.

And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech: and both of them made a covenant. Gen.21:27

So, I personally believe the Antichrist will make a 7yr. covenant with Israel and go back on it in 31/2yrs just as Dan.9:27 states.

I agree about the covenant, it's just an agreement between 2 parties.
What leads you to believe the he in verse 27 is talking about the Antichrist instead of the Messiah?

Okay, I have a couple of questions....I know that there are Orthodox Jews, Zionist Jews and Messianic Jews, maybe others, I really don't know. I guess for the questions I'll be mainly speaking about the Orthodox Jews.

1) Mainly speaking, this is more about what the Jewish people see as a possible biblical prophecy coming to pass?

2) If the Jewish people don't recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and recognize that He died on the cross for our sins (taking the place of animal sacrifice), then what do they do now, and since the time of the crucifixion, to atone for their sins?

3) My understanding is that the red heifer is needed to cleanse or purify the priests, and that this has to happen BEFORE the Third Temple is built. Afterwards, at some point, the Antichrist will enter into the Third Temple and claim to be God. I do believe that Armageddon will take place in Israel, at Zion. I also believe that when Jesus Christ comes back to rule on this earth for 1,000 years, that all Christians will be brought back to live with Him in the land of Israel. Am I wrong to believe in any of this? If so, please let me know how.

I realize that I have been a Christian for many years now, and I was raised in church. I did backslide for quite a few years, and while I've never read the Bible completely through, I am working on it. There were certain things in my life that led me back to Christ, and I think for the first time in my life, I have put Christ first. Pretty sad, huh? :) I am truly wanting to grow as a Christian. I am in Leviticus now, and it's talking about all of the sin offerings, and guilt offerings, and fellowship offerings. I haven't sat down yet with a concordance and looked up scriptures based on topic, but that is something I am also getting ready to start...today, as a matter of fact. I just finished working on a Bible Marking Key so that I can mark words and scriptures in my Bible to help me learn. Anyway, I hope that you all can give me some insight into all of this. Thank you!

I just received this in my personal email this evening from Jewish Voice Ministries International:

Jewish Voice Ministries International - Email - Potential Prophetic Significance Found

The only place in the Holy Bible (NIV) I can find mention of a red heifer is in Numbers 19:2, "This is a requirement of the law that the Lord has commanded: Tell the Israelites to bring you a red heifer without defect or blemish and that has never been under a yoke."

Any thoughts on this?
The word you're looking for is not "prophecy," it's "propaganda."

Because the Messiah is cut off (dies) before the confirming of the covenant. (v.26) and (v.27) are not the same person.

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterenss for his first-born.
Zech.12:10

And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my firends. Zech.13:6

John applies Zech. 12:10 to the smitten Christ (John 19:37. These verses contrast Israel's treatment of the Messiah at His first advent, when He was rejected and slain, and their treatment of Him at His second advent, when He will be recieved and exalted. Have not doubt they will recognize Jesus the Christ as the Messiah.
