Here shows fire coming down from heaven (as they understood it through Elijah) saying...

Luke 9:54 Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them,
even as Elias did?

Luke 9:55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

Whereas here is someone doing that

Rev 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so thathe maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

Might depend on what we are looking at too, what they thought (according to what is shown in Elijah) but was misunderstood by them concerning what spirit they were of and what manner of spirit is shown doing similiar later (such as in rev)

Whereas here the two witnesses, there is a comparitive things between the fire out of the mouth in these

Jerm 5:14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, ((behold)) I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

Even as we see here...

Rev 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

Slain (means killed) as the above does, and again is shown after this manner

Hosea 6:5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.

What got me was gather sticks (on the sabbath) to kindle a fire

You had to have caught that one (lol)

I posted on that a couple of times but I always thought wow, thats another way of looking at it (that still holds true) to the tongue being a fire also.

Abraham also, Isaac points out, the wood, knife, and fire (all three) but asks where is the Lamb.

You can see the elements in the same, putting it out correctly might be the challenge is all.
Yea all the thorns, briers and unfruitful trees and branches along with the chaff will be gathered and burned before the Lords Great Sabbath of Rest. :0

Matthew 3:12
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Matthew 13:30
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Matthew 13:40
As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

Luke 3:17
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

John 15:6
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Yeah that's like the blessing and the curse...fire in nature tends to consume, whereas water tends to renew. God's words can do both.

Well I was thinking of children of Israel who a found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day In Numbers 15:32 (which speaks more the intent to do what was not permitted which is to "kindle a fire" that day) wheras it says, in Exodus 35:3 the following

Exodus 35:3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations
upon the sabbath day.

Numbers 15:32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness,
they found a man
that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.

sticks/wood to fire throughout your habitations

Prov 26:21 As coals are toburning coals, and wood to fire;
so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member,
and boasteth great things.
Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

And he was to be stoned to death which against shows the tongue also has the power of life and death in that picture even, showing more an intent there according to what was not allowed upon the sabbath.

Wood is shown as people as well, just as the gather of branches or speaking his word (which is a fire) also but there is a strange fire also and Aarons sons died before the Lord offering that (in respects to him being glorified) it is speaking his words (not their own) and calling his Sabbath a delight in the very same also shows not speaking their words (even as in the NT) he would be glorified through Christ in speaking the very oracles of God in the ability God gives to each.

Just depends which is being compared or contrasted

Even here..(edits in)

Isaiah 50:11
Behold, all ye that kindle a fire,
that compass yourselves about with sparks:
walk in the light of your fire,
and
in the sparks that ye have kindled.
This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

Yea I think the natural law also has a deeper spiritual meaning, as I believe the Lords day of rest won't have people kindling strife between one another. (like we see often in these forums) LOL

Yeah, I mean you can see the same here as well,

Isaiah 58:4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate,
and to smite with the fist of wickedness:
ye shall not fast as ye do this day,
to make your voice to be heard on high
.

Then read in between, but ends saying...

Isaiah 58:13
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,
from doing thy pleasure on my holy day;
and call the sabbath a delight,
the holy of the LORD, honourable;
and shalt honour him,
not doing thine own ways,
nor finding thine own pleasure,
nor speaking thine own words:

At least what is fasted for (in respects to strife and debate) is shown. Not so much the gather of sticks (or wood to kindkle a fire) on sabbath speaking ones own words (and seeking ones own glory) where their own glory (and pleasure) is sought would fit in other ways given he is glorified through Christ in such a one speaking the oracles of God (not of the oracles of self)

Ministers should speak his words not their own

That's right, I almost started a thread on that a few hours ago, but decided to wait. But yeah, that is even shown in Jesus words here...

John 5:30-32[SUP]30 [/SUP]I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
[SUP]31 [/SUP]If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
[SUP]32 [/SUP]There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true."

If men come in their own name, seeking their own will and glory, then their witness is not true. This can be applied to not only those who say they come in the name of the Lord (but lie) but also all other men of religion, science etc. who come in their own name and glory.

Doesn't make you want to trust in the testimony of men who speak not according to His word now does it? LOL

Thats actually one of my favorites.

I prefer his words over my own.

I know I am not interested in anyone elses speaking from themselves (in their own words) when we are looking at something in the scriptures. But I wouldnt even want to go to the house of God to hear any of them giving me their spiel over His. I guess we all have our preferences, I just prefer His words over theirs (alot of people dont though). Which is why I am drawn more to those who labor in the word and doctrine and who speak (or post His words).

Which doesnt mean those who do so are always correct in their handling of the same (no doubt) but for the most part when something is either right on or off (either way) the corrections (the scriptures are for) gives a more precise and convenient place to show the error (in it be in doctrine) through the rightful or wrongful handling of the same (but in the actual workmanship of the person).

Lots speak at his words, seek to pit them (and contradict) try to overthrow them (speak from themselves) exalting their own words over his, and many other like things. To each their own, I just prefer His.

Gotta throw on dinner.
