You actually stumped me. Not bad for the second question. My first thought was to ask Him, "Why do You love us?", but I know I would never be able to understand that with my human mind anyway. I would probably just fall down like the disciple John did.

I believe it to be acceptable, as long as they are your own fingers and not the fingers of others, and you are in an informal setting (though cheesy snacks are unlikely to be present in a formal one), and you lick your fingers IMMEDIATELY before you wash your hands.
