The last time I saw Rodney King, he was on Dr. Drew's 'Celebrity Rehab' making really good progress. Unfortunately, he began using again at some point afterwards and died in his swimming pool of "accidental drowning." The coroner found alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, and PCP in his system at the time of his death stating in the report that:
"The effects of the drugs and alcohol, combined with the subject's heart condition, probably precipitated a cardiac arrhythmia and the subject, thus incapacitated, was unable to save himself and drowned."
It's sad that some people abuse drugs and alcohol developing addiction problems and sadder still that some of those never find sobriety afterwards.
Some of the most grateful and introspective people I've ever met were once alcoholics and/or addicts that found true sobriety and maintained it long term with a commitment for life. These were not "dry drunks" either.
Unfortunately, Rodney wasn't one of them. Rodney relapsed. Rodney's dead. He died both drunk and high.
