Liberty Counsel
Since coming to the defense of Kim Davis, Liberty Counsel has been the target of a vicious campaign to smear and discredit our reputation — even going so far as to label Liberty Counsel as a "hate group."
This past Sunday, writer Claire Galofaro penned an article carried by the Associated Press with the headline, "Law firm labeled hate group leading Kim Davis Crusade." The article distorts events and questions the integrity of our organization as it invokes the Southern Poverty Law Center's (SPLC) labeling of us as a "hate group."
+ + As Christians, we are all under attack.
In all of our years of service, we at Liberty Counsel have never experienced the level of threats and depth of hatred we have received from so-called "tolerant activists." Since beginning our defense of Kim Davis and the launch of our national Push For Liberty campaign, Anita and I have been personally threatened, but we remain undeterred in our stand.
Today, believers working as civil servants, business leaders, and ministry workers are also being barraged with unprecedented assaults on their religious liberties. Some have also received death threats, assaults on their character, and malicious lies affecting their business' reputation and revenue.
The question is, how do we respond? Do we cower in fear? Or do we fight to defend our rights?
In recent months, the Liberty Counsel legal team has been flooded with requests for legal aid from Christians who are fighting back. These assaults are the very issues Liberty Counsel was raised to meet and overcome – and we do so in courtrooms and the courts of public opinion across the nation.
The truth is, we are compelled to fight. Fighting for righteousness is never wrong, but we must count the cost. I don't say this lightly. This is a time of great testing and all of us need to be prepared to take a stand.
Liberty Counsel is prepared to fight -- for you and others under assault, but we need your help. I believe this is a battle that can and will be won, but it will take the committed prayers and support of believers across the nation.
Yes, what is happening in America may seem surreal, but do not be discouraged. We serve the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! Our Creator will not be mocked. God has called you and me into this moment of history to stand for Him!
That's why we can never quit the fight.
