That's irrelevant because we are not talking about churches here we are talking about a public official who refused to do her job. In the real world when you refuse to do your job you get fired. I guess our government has some catching up to do
Well she didn't get fired...and the people who hired her support her :)

That's also irrelevant. She went against the judges orders and that's why she went to jail. She may be going back to jail soon.

... and LGBTs still won't be getting for-certain-legal licenses, will they? Did that occur to you?

you are not under attack just because someone else gains rights that you have always had.
me..So you would approve an equality act that would say a church must have an equal amount of other faiths teaching their Sunday School class?
Since after all "they wouldn't be under attack just because others have gained the right they have already had".

Irrelevant? You brought up the 'irrelevant' point then.

Judges don't run this country...the people do...or we are supposed to...may have to get rid of a bunch of judges when conservatives have all the power.

If they go against the judges orders then they can all agree in jail
Duhh, that means the judge would be in jail too.

(As I had posted yesterday)..

"District Judge David Bunning also said licenses issued while she was in jail without her name were valid.
In lifting the contempt sanction on September 8, Judge Bunning said he was "satisfied that the Rowan County Clerk's Office is fulfilling its obligation to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples," while pointing out that the marriage licenses were altered to remove Kim Davis's name."

well put barlygurl! My point exactly! She never questioned any other couple regardless of whether they were atheist, muslim, christian, etc. Her argument does not hold and it's quite hypocritical. To make homosexuality a sin above all sins is just plain stupid.

....except she wasn't preaching Christ....she was discriminating. Here's a woman who had the freedom to marry...what....four times?...really? She has no right to make that choice for someone else just like no one had any right to make that choice for her...(and obviously, they didn't)

To make this a homosexuality issue is just plain stupid. Is that your agenda?
The issues are...
1. Redefinition of marriage from what God has ordained.
2. A Christian who's conscience and conviction is such that God's Word must be obeyed over man's law.

As a Christian do you have such a conscience and conviction?
At least let her have her's.

If this is all about her great conscience and her willingness to follow God's commandments, surely she should have been able to take instant heed of "one cannot serve two masters, for he will hate one and love the other", as soon as gay marriage became legal.

Bottom line: If her duty to God and church was in direct conflict with her duty to law and state, she should have resigned her position and started performing marriages for a pastor instead of a government. At least that way, she could refuse as many gays as she likes.

For now...til even that won't be 'legal'.

So you are saying that whenever an employer begins forcing a Christian to act against their conscience even if it wasn't in the original job duties, that employee is to fold and buckle? Additionally, in this case it can be argued that the Court acted illegally in legislating that which is not their function. Kentucky had no such law.

Your argument serves again to push the Judeo Christian ethic out of the public and into it's own ghetto.

This is the best article I've read on this subject. I have to say, I agree with it. It covers all the questions I had on the matter. I hope I'm allowed to post it. I think most of you will agree with the content.

Considerations Regarding Proposals To Give Legal Recognition To Unions Between Homosexual Persons
Not sure why you would think most would agree? First its coming from a RCC view and its full of false assumptions ... Being gay is just like every other sin we choose to practice ...only worse

The thing is being gay or homosexual is a sin, just as adultery, murder, lying etc.... I think the real problem here is that finally a very public stand for our King was made , and yet so much hate from people that supposedly live by the bible and by God is going around . He abhors all sin but He does love the sinner. But sin is still not condoned. What the states and people have done is make a war where there shouldn't be. Same sex marriage has never been legal because our nation was founded on God and Gods law. We have let this country go to the pits, by selecting people to rule that are not Christians and do not live by God. When our president said "This Nation is no longer founded on God" it broke the camels back. The great thing is through Christ we can heal it, so maybe what you might want to talk about is how we can change our society, how should we pray for our communities and the people that are brave and strong enough to stand for their right, how can we help lead people to accepting Christ? I support Davis. Her rights are being violated. We have the freedom to serve God! Use it!

The aftermath...

Mathew Staver, Founder and Chairman
Liberty Counsel

Since coming to the defense of Kim Davis, Liberty Counsel has been the target of a vicious campaign to smear and discredit our reputation — even going so far as to label Liberty Counsel as a "hate group."

This past Sunday, writer Claire Galofaro penned an article carried by the Associated Press with the headline, "Law firm labeled hate group leading Kim Davis Crusade." The article distorts events and questions the integrity of our organization as it invokes the Southern Poverty Law Center's (SPLC) labeling of us as a "hate group."

+ + As Christians, we are all under attack.

In all of our years of service, we at Liberty Counsel have never experienced the level of threats and depth of hatred we have received from so-called "tolerant activists." Since beginning our defense of Kim Davis and the launch of our national Push For Liberty campaign, Anita and I have been personally threatened, but we remain undeterred in our stand.

Today, believers working as civil servants, business leaders, and ministry workers are also being barraged with unprecedented assaults on their religious liberties. Some have also received death threats, assaults on their character, and malicious lies affecting their business' reputation and revenue.

The question is, how do we respond? Do we cower in fear? Or do we fight to defend our rights?

In recent months, the Liberty Counsel legal team has been flooded with requests for legal aid from Christians who are fighting back. These assaults are the very issues Liberty Counsel was raised to meet and overcome – and we do so in courtrooms and the courts of public opinion across the nation.

The truth is, we are compelled to fight. Fighting for righteousness is never wrong, but we must count the cost. I don't say this lightly. This is a time of great testing and all of us need to be prepared to take a stand.

Liberty Counsel is prepared to fight -- for you and others under assault, but we need your help. I believe this is a battle that can and will be won, but it will take the committed prayers and support of believers across the nation.

Yes, what is happening in America may seem surreal, but do not be discouraged. We serve the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! Our Creator will not be mocked. God has called you and me into this moment of history to stand for Him!

That's why we can never quit the fight.

LIBERTY COUNSEL UPDATE:

"This week, Judge John Enslen became the second Alabama probate judge to ask the Alabama Supreme Court to take action to protect Alabama's embattled probate judges who oppose the issuance of same-sex "marriage" licenses.
Judge Enslen argued, "Despite the June 26, 2015, ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States in Obergefell v. Hodges, the issuance of same-sex marriage licenses in Alabama… remains illegal and unconstitutional in the State of Alabama. Born solely from a strained interpretation of the U.S. Constitution, the new same-sex marriage license is a child of the federal government, not the State of Alabama."

Last month, Judge Nick Williams filed a motion and memo with the Alabama Supreme Court, arguing "the Obergefell decision is wholly lacking in lawful Supreme Court authority," because "the United States Constitution defines the powers of the federal government, and gives no branch of the federal government power to redefine marriage."

Citing the example of Abraham Lincoln and the Wisconsin Supreme Court, both of which ignored the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of slavery, Judge Williams called for the Alabama Supreme Court to "recognize the historic moment to return balance to our system of federalism and restrain lawlessness."

+ + We are actively engaged in the Alabama battle for natural marriage.

Liberty Counsel does not represent Judges Enslen or Williams, but does represent the Alabama Policy Institute, the Alabama Citizens Action Program, and their many Alabama members in related proceedings before the Alabama Supreme Court.

In July, in a brief to the Alabama Supreme Court, Liberty Counsel presented legal arguments following the release of the Court's ruling in the marriage case. The brief stated, in part...

"When considering the Supreme Court's Obergefell opinion, state Supreme Courts should contemplate the decision's substantial assault on the Rule of Law, Democracy, and Natural Law, and its necessary diminishment of the constitutional right to Free Exercise of Religion."

I am praying that efforts to marginalize Christians and attempts to make us "call good that which is evil" will backfire. This is a crucially important and winnable battle. "

"I support Davis. Her rights are being violated. We have the freedom to serve God! Use it!"[/QUOTE]...I support Davis's personal right to freedom, and I also support the homosexual's personal right to their freedom. The problem with Davis's action was that rather than seeking exemption from her name being on the certificates, she flat out refused to issue the certificates AND refused to allow any of her staff to....then went before a judge and simply refused to comply with what was ordered. She should've sought accomodations in the first place, but she didn't. Instead she used her religious freedom as an excuse to deny another of their own legal freedom. That was her own fault.
