But I don't think there are mansions in Heaven or log cabins...those are metaphoric for our new heavenly bodies.
Hello Ariel,
Actually, the word is "moné" which is defined as (lodging, dwelling-place, room, abode, mansion). Also, the scripture is a promise from the Lord, not only to the disciples, but to all believers. John 14:1-3 is the promise to come and take all believers back to the Father's house in those new heavenly bodies and 1 Thes.4:13-18 and 1 Cor.15:51-53 is the actual event of when the Lord comes for us. According to his promise, when Jesus left, he went to prepare those dwelling places in the Father's house (heaven) and he coming to gather us and take us back to those dwelling places. After God's wrath has been poured out upon the earth, then we will return with Christ at the end of the age and will rule with him during his thousand year reign.
And treasure in Heaven are our good deeds done in His name on Earth. The only reward worth having is hearing "you have done well" from God
Actually, we will inherit many things belonging to Christ. In the letters to the churches, for those who overcome, he lists some of those rewards:
1). To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
2). The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.
3). To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
4). To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations—that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’ —just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give that one the morning star.
5). The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.
6). Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
7). The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.
8). To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.
The above are just some of the rewards that we will acquire belonging to Christ, but I believe that we cannot imagine all that we will inherit until we get there.
