Sounds like you are ducking.
don't want the spotlight on your unwarranted attack?
No DM, I am not ducking.
Explain to everyone what this verse means.
In fact why don't you reference the whole account of Abraham and the covenant God made with him.
This is an invitation to you...

Genesis 26:1-5

I think the passage is clear.
Abraham was blessed, and his Seed also, because he obeyed God.
Not a lot of theology needed here.

By the way, in this passage, in Hebrew, is the first use of the word, Torah!

We do read our Bible and you are smoking your socks!
Levitical law was not introduced until the time of Moses.
Your motives are not pure in this - you are trying to shoehorn an understanding into this passage of Scripture that does not exist.
Simply put you are putting the cart before the horse.

You have been going on about how simple things are that even a child can understand.
Well, what you are suggesting is both historically and logically impossible.
You do not want to see this reality because you are blinded by your predjudices.

Abraham had no clue about the law as outlined in Moses time and to try and pretend that he did is plainly dishonest.
I wonder what someone would think of lying about your wife so that another man can take her to have sex with her - just to save his own neck. That was what Abraham did. Is that not violating the Law of Moses on many different levels? Of course it is.

Law-keepers use the scripture that Abraham keep my statues and laws and commands to "always mean the Law of Moses".

Law simply means "instruction". Abraham obeyed God's "instruction/law" to leave his homeland...etc.

They create this same error with the commandments of the New Covenant. They try to get Christians to desert Christ for their "law-keeping". Their law-keeping self-righteousness is an anti-Christ religion.

I wanted to add this scripture but ran out of time. This clearly shows the true believer in Christ is dead to the law SO THAT we can live unto God now.

Galatians 2:19-21 (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

[SUP]20 [/SUP] I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me
.
[SUP]21 [/SUP] I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

This is why the law-keeper religion is anti-Christ even though it has the "appearance" of good - but it denies the power of God in our lives and in reality we are deserting Christ to go back to the Law for living.

By Faith Abraham obeyed God, not by Works.

By Faith Abraham was made Righteous, not by Works.

By Faith Abraham walked with God, not by Works.

So why disciplemike are you continuing to defend Works instead of Faith?

for Abraham, and true believers, faith is not just a mental state. it involves what you do.
like it or not, that is the way it is.

exactly.
He tells us what to eat. He tells us how to worship Him and which days are the real Holy Days.
He explains to us the importance of His Sabbaths.
But most modern believers reject all of this.
Why?

hogwash.
that was not all he obeyed.
God explained in detail what Abraham obeyed.

because Abraham
(1) obeyed my voice
(2) and kept my charge,
(3) my commandments,
(4) my statutes, and
(5) my laws."
Genesis 26:5 (ESV2011, MBM)

try coming out of Babylon for a minute and look up each of those words in the Hebrew.

Simply because Christ has fulfilled the whole Law and we are dead to the Law SO THAT we could live joined to Christ now. We live by His life in us now - not by the keeping of the law of Moses.

Most modern believers reject this law-keeping because it is deserting Christ and this religion is anti-Christ in it's nature.

wrong.
if the Messiah lives in you, you will OBEY all of His Father's commandments because that is exactly what the Messiah did!

Like it or not, the Messiah did not teach His own doctrine, but that of the Father!

And I encourage you to do the same thing as Abraham did and obey God's torah/law/instruction and believe in the New Covenant of grace in Christ. Believe in Christ and what He has already done.

Did you read where Peter wanted to build 3 tabernacles when he saw Jesus talking with Moses - the Law-giver and Elijah - the Law restorer? The Father spoke and said " This is my beloved Son - hear Him". Trying to get people to live by the Old Covenant laws is anti-Christ. Jesus fulfilled all the Law SO THAT we can be joined to Him and now we live unto God.

Come to Christ disciplemike and be free to walk in His life now - you can trust His life in you to lead you in the affairs of life. No one is going to fall for this anti-Christ religion of law-keeping and desert their Lord Jesus Christ.

Law-keepers violate the law of Moses continuously. They water down the Law to make it appear 'do-able". Jesus came to fulfill the Law in Himself SO THAT we could die to the Law and live unto God Himself. No one is going to fall for your anti-Christ law-keeping for salvation and life. Jesus' life in us is more then enough.

Come to Christ and live!

Romans 10:4-5 (NASB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes
.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]
For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness.

Galatians 2:19-21 (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

[SUP]20 [/SUP] I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Can't you understand, the promise of the Messiah (Abraham's Seed), was given to Abraham, because Abraham obeyed God's commandments.
If you deny that, you deny Scripture.

Isn't it interesting that what God "commanded" wasn't what God actually wanted??

that sounds so theological. I am sure you will explain.
if you are talking about when God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son, it did accomplish what God intended.

He wanted to see if Abraham would OBEY!
