Remember this? Jesus spoke of a people professing Him as claiming these same things.
Matthew 7:[SUP]21 [/SUP]Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.[SUP]22 [/SUP]Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?[SUP]23 [/SUP]And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.[SUP]24 [/SUP]Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:[SUP]25 [/SUP]And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.[SUP]26 [/SUP]And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:[SUP]27 [/SUP]And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
So in spite of the claims, what is the real earmark that they are in iniquity? Falling down, because they did not heed His words that Jesus is the only way to come to God the Father by; John 14:6, not by way of the Holy Spirit; John 10:1
John 14:[SUP]6 [/SUP]Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 10:1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber....[SUP]7 [/SUP]Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
But many that chase after the "Holy Spirit's meetings" listens to the devil saying "Did God really say that?"
Proverbs 25:[SUP]26 [/SUP]A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.[SUP]27 [/SUP]It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.[SUP]28 [/SUP]He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
His own words speaks against those meetings that includes being drunk in the Spirit as not of Him.
So in regards to your experience....either we are not getting the whole story or that baptism of the Holy Spirit with tongues did not come about by you hearing the gospel and believing in Him as a result of that gospel, but later on when they were promoting the receiving of the Holy Spirit by the evidence of tongues as separate from the gospel.
Because that is what everybody else is talking about here wherein... what do you know.. you can receive he Holy Spirit "again" and "again" and "again" by bring drunk in the Spirit. It never ends. That is not the gospel of Jesus Christ, now is it?
Just spirit this and spirit that. One local church had to make sure that everybody believed in Him before they focused on the Holy Spirit's meetings because some visitors were speaking in tongues without interpretation before they were believing in Jesus Christ. The pastor did not want any red flags raised that this event was not of Him since sinners were receiving that supernatural tongue long before hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ to believe in Him...... RED FLAG
