For the sake of context, this is about weight loss and becoming secure (financially) to be prepared for The One. Yet I can see how this can be applicable in other areas, and see why some of the responses are geared towards sin. Which, the responses, are excellent in those contexts. Thank you everyone for the responses, and encouragement (wisdom).
O my friend, you don't own this overview I do. Lol I struggle with this everyday, my health and wealth are far from my exportation.
I can truly say I know the meaning of " to soon old to late smart".
Now my friend it starts and stops with you. Being wise financially is a biblical lesson all in its self. Remember the borrower is slave to the lender. As far as shaping up there's plenty of tips out there to help ya with that. I think your looking at it as a defeated effort but your wrong. You can do it with the right motivation which starts with "you can do it".

Good question. As Christians, how do we change? Do we change ourselves or does God change us?
I don't believe they are antithetical to another. Faith without works is dead, and so while God may make promises we still end up partaking in the process (necessarily). So its not that we are changing ourselves or God alone changes us, its that God changes us as we submit to His will. So the change wouldn't happen apart from God, and with God all things are possible. This means the glory goes to the Lord. The change sourced from Him, and yet walked out by us in obedience to Him.

This of course being dependent upon which topic we are referring to, sin or simply promises made by the Lord.

WOW, To say i completely understand the title of the post is a way to much of an understatement.
I mean I just saying to Father last night as i was going to sleep how I absolute hated and was utterly disgusted with everything about me that isn't him. a strange though came to mind saying you just want to be strong and to be a (holy) Christian but i continued speaking to father partly to counter my own doubt and fear of that voice being true saying no father the reason I hate and am so disgusted with every part of me that isn't you is because of how I admire who you are and because of how amazing and beautiful your heart is.

I continued by saying i mean the way your see and perceive things and how you train of thought is, how you feel about everything and how you show this radiant light in everything you speak and see in even the most disgusting of sinners like me is just to amazing and wondrous for me to even begin to understand. It's because of how I admire and am so proud of you for who you are that i am so disgusted with myself.

You know how we say, "I really shouldn't eat this"? Guess what? We really shouldn't eat it. LOL. But instead of doing what we know is right, we actually use our acknowledgment of what is right to do what is wrong….and we eat it. Interesting isn't it?

Motivation and inspiration waxes and wains. Truth is constant and lasting. Usually we already know the truth, we just dang well choose to ignore it. It is an old story really.......;)

I doubt whether a man knows himself if he hasn't experienced a healthy dose of self disgust. That self disgust IS a hungering for true righteousness in our inner self. How can a man be pleased when he sees enemy invaders in his own house?
