I saw Seoul's longing for another money saving thread.. LOL
1.) When grocery shopping, if possible, go to the dollar store. The Dollar Tree is right next to Price Chopper here in my area, and everything is only $1. The store here has a good sized frozen section, so I get about... maybe 98% of my groceries and household products there. At Price Chopper, I get my iced coffee, chocolate milk, paper towels, toilet paper, and deli items, but for everything else, I go to The Dollar Tree. When I've got everything I need, I've spent only $50 or $60, compared to $200 or more if I shopped ONLY at Price Chopper.
I also find that the frozen section at DT has alot of good quality and quantity items, with brand names such as Banquet, Minute Maid, Cinnabon, and Marie Callendar's to name a few. So why spend 5 times as much at the grocery store, when you can get nearly everything you need at the dollar store?
2.) Use coupons. Go to online websites and print out coupons for what you need. Many stores double and triple coupons, and they even take competitor coupons. Which means if you have a coupon to Shaws, for example, then Price Chopper will take that coupon. Many stores have machines in the aisles where you can grab coupons, and even take them right off certain products.
3.) Use your store loyalty card. Whether it's to Costco, Price Chopper, Staples, etc. USE IT. It will save you money..
4.) Deals at the grocery store, such as 10 for $10, DOES NOT mean you have to buy 10. Even if you only buy 3 or 4, you still get them for $1 each..
5.) When cleaning your house, use natural cleansers. Cider vinegar is awesome for wiping dirty windows, and killing mold and mildew. When killing mold and mildew, though, use straight vinegar, don't dilute it. Toothpaste and baking soda are excellent for cleaning dried-on gunk from ovens and/or microwaves.. If you have a Swiffer mop, buy re-usable pads for it, instead of constantly using the Swiffer brand. Re-usable mop pads will last a VERY long time AND save you a ton of $$$.
