Our faith is based upon the greatest wrong ever committed: That the one Perfect One had the wrongdoing of the entire world placed upon Him and suffered and died for sins that were not His. Even the human trial was fixed. For all our arguing about predestination, this was the most fixed event in human history. God's purpose and will culminated in something that was absolutely not fair but was absolutely holy.
So what's so important about being right? Sometimes love must allow itself to be wronged in order to work the will and righteousness of God in our lives. Being right is not so important.

As I looked at this post I glanced at the # of veiws to answers.
Then I looked at all the other posts and the# of veiws to answers.
The veiws are many, many more than the answers.
Consider this all that witness here.
Those veiws are how many you have witnessed to in Jesus.

the one aspect of our faith we can be absolutely certain beyond a shadow of doubt is that the entire bible is about Jesus, the knowledge of Jesus Christ, nothing more, nothing less, it needs be at all times about lifting His Holy name above evrything else. from the law to grace its all about Jesus, why we need Him, what He has done and continues to do thruout since mans creation,

was in christian chat room listening to a debate that just bounced for over an hour between three people about a scripture(book ofrevelations) and the doctrine they beleived it meant. i spoke to them that even though the topic has gone round and round and round let me share some good news about the people in this room the last two nights that gave their hearts to Jesus, how you could feel God prescense in all those involved in explaining the scriptures about Jesus, tears flowed from many eyes, and how we should be more attentive that God does lead people to sites like cc to hear about Jesus and the work of the cross,
then i got hammered for stifling debate and how doctrine is important and study and being approved in the Word etc

shows that some care more for what they think the Word says than what the Word is really all about, it is all about Jesus, alpha to omega, bible included. Jesus is about salvation, not the study of doctrine. The Word became flesh, the living Word of God, how we relegate it to second to doctrine being held in more esteem.

Good thread charis, good post pickles, Gods face shine upon all always, lets us not turn away from His beauty.

At the time of the death and resurrection of Jesus, creation turned a corner, changed direction, became different. At that time, everything changed, forever. Before then, the only hope that anyone had, was in the resurrection. And in this resurrection, that hope was that one might be judged well enough to gain life in the kingdom of heaven. But now that Jesus has died and risen again, He is also the Life. Life now, eternal life, in Him.

I hate to argue. I am not even very fond of discussing things, unless there is an honest and sincere willingness to listen to each other. None of us are right, all of us are wrong. Only Jesus is right, only He is true.

I have been guilty of being "right" in this forum. I have always had the Spirit's conviction afterward. Just today, Gospelonly has been an occasion for sin for me. But Jesus is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I know that He is drawing us together in some way, to see Him better, clearer, deeper, through each other. I pray that He continues to do so.

In reading your post, I could not help but to recall the words of of the late Krister Stendahl, former dean of Harvard Divinity School, Emeritus Bishop of Stockholm (Church of Sweden), and renowned New Testament scholar:

Apologetics, defending the Bible—defending God, for that matter—is a rather arrogant activity. Who is defending whom? I love to use the old Swedish expression, "It is pathetic to hear mosquitoes cough." I don't know why that is funny, but in Swedish it is funny. And apologetics is mosquitoes coughing. It kills so much of the joy in reading and practicing the love of the scriptures.

The quote is from An essay by Krister Stendahl found on Deirdre Good's blog, Deirdre Good is a New Testament scholar who teaches at the General Theological Seminary in NYC.
