Greetings.

I am new here, so hope this is the right place to start a question like this.

I am glad to have come across this site. I often find myself praying for people when they are in a tough situation. I have a number of verses that I often come back to. I was wondering what verses stand out to you and how they helped you.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son. That whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Belief is all that is necessary for everlasting life. This is comforting as I know if it depended on me to obtain everlasting life, I would not be saved.

I like this one.

Philippians 1:6 (NASB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus
.

And this one too...

Philippians 2:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Hebrew 2:18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

And

Hebrew 4:15 For we do not have a God who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, for we have a God who has been tempted in everyway just as we are- yet, he did not sin.

They both help me overcome my addiction issues, and make it easier to resist the temptation of the enemy!

I don’t think most people understand this one. I believe it is the key to heaven:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

I think it's real clear repent if you want to see the kingdom of heaven, however if I'm wrong please enlighten me.

Please explain further..
The Lord led me to repent of sins I was committing. Then, suddenly, my life was transformed into something extremely beautiful. It reminds me of this:

[2] And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband;
[3] and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them;
[4] he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away." Rev 21:2-4 RSV

That was what I thought you meant, just wanted to double-check. I can say I've experienced heaven here on Earth in the midst of all the chaos and anarchy, heaven for me though is God's love and of course his Mercy!

1 Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 John 2:12-14
I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. 13I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. 14I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

But it's neat when the Lord shows you a way to avoid trouble.

One I often struggle with but truly gives me peace (in that God is not necessarily looking to me to do mind blowing world changing things)

1 Thessalonians 4: 11-12

11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

Thanks Grace777,
Both of those verses from Phillipines are such a blessing. Getting to the point that we are confident that God is involved in our lives makes our relationship with him so personal. I hadn't even thought of Philippians 2:13. Appreciate you sharing this.

I think this verse is often misconstrued, or maybe it's just me. However, I feel people read this verse and think that their belief in God is enough, and they totally forget about Jesus. For instance, I feel I hear lots of people say they believe in God, but I never hear them say anything about Jesus. I read this verse and it says to me only if I believe in Jesus will I have everlasting life, that belief in God alone is not enough.

Hey Grace. I loved the verses thst you have shared here. I am keen to write them down and save them so I have them as a constant reminder. I love the fact that we don't have to face situations alone and that God won't allow us to go beyond what we can handle without Him. Thank you.
