Just a quick read through the first page of this forum, and there is no doubt many consider themselves teachers. Well, okay, you consider yourself a teacher. You may even be a teacher, but I have a request:

In my denomination, we know the teachers because they have to past a bunch of tests before the presbytery (session of churches) before they are approved as teachers. Most of the churches I've gone to, at the very least, I understood the background of the people preaching that week. (And, honestly? It wasn't always a background in seminary either, but at least I knew.) Can you at least give your expertise on the subject you're teaching before jumping into it? Because, if I don't know it, I'm not going to listen.

I've had enough people try and teach me stuff only to find out quickly they didn't have a clue on the subject, so I really don't waste time until I understand the teacher has a clue.

Do with this what you like. It's just a request.

THE ACTS 17:21 Now all the Athenians and the strangers living there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell or to hear

some new thing.

that's kind of like Christian internet forums, except

:D we often don't talk about new stuff, just the same old.

Cool, it's a good thing God doesn't require a person to go through a bunch of test to be a teacher,

Man made idea's of what a teacher is suppose be,

This is exactly what's screwed up with this world, people running around not listening to no one about God unless it comes from someone with a PH.D. In bible study, a person who has been preaching for 50 years. Etc. it saddens me people cannot understand God can bring a message to the wise from someone who is not wise of things, yes it is true God uses the weak to lead the strong.

But if we do we are immediately accused of showing how clever we are and boasting about our qualifications :)

I agree brother. Who is the scribe? Where is the wise? 1 Cor.1:11
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this [SUP][a][/SUP]world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

Not to say I don't think education is good. But people in the world and even the church (imo) esteem it much to highly when it comes to the things of God and the Bible. We have the Holy Spirit and we also need to listen to good Holy Spirit lead teachers and preachers and pastors and friends. Not all will be "educated" especially in this forum on CC. I've found the ones who brag about their "education" are usually meaner than a snake getting poked at if you dare disagree with them about doctrine.

So while I do believe there is a place for educated leaders., they are of no real help unless they be lead by the Holy Spirit.
And many so called "un educated" Christians are more helpful and solid in a lot of cases than those who have a PHD in Bible Theology. P.S. especially here on CC

LOL ONLY if you disagree than you're "education" or your "opinion" of yourself is judged. But if you agree with certain people, you will be embraced along with your teaching. That is human nature.

I agree also I'm not putting down education at all, or bible schools and the like, but in my opinion, once a person reaches a level of understanding, one has to be alert to things that they may not know yet, and surely that can come from anyone God chooses that info to come from. Probably from the ones we least expect it too.

I would be more receptive to the "teachers" on this site if they were to state their qualifications to teach. I'm not qualified to teach anything and I am a mere few months away from having a PhD, so any "teacher" here at CC better have some hefty qualifications to be taken seriously.

I'm snobby like that.

First and foremost a good teacher is anointed by the Holy Spirit! The teacher should bring revelation knowledge to the surface, then stand back and let the student determine for themselves through the students own leading of the Holy Spirit.....

The problem is pride....

Unless asked directly, I never talk about my educational background....nor do I need my name on the church sign outside...

I did formal Bible education out of obedience to what God told me to do....not for what it would give me....Others may be different...but God told me to do what I did in Bible education and he opened every door and I never paid a dime in tuition, it was always taken care of... I dislike ministry that makes withdraws....we like to be known for making deposits...

I don't expect one person to have it all down perfectly when it comes to the Bible or anything for that matter. No one except the Father, Son and Holy Spirit do. The way to really tell about a person is how they love the brethren. They can have all the theology and credentials but show no reflection of JESUS in how they write or talk. How much Jesus is uncovered in them is how to tell if they are worthy of our learning from.

And usually it is very easy to do so. Love is patient, love is kind. People who love are not hard to be around because Jesus love is inviting and unconditional. Jesus love constrains us and pushes us forward to be more like Him.

cc welcomes all people to share here with a few rules that should be adhered to.

GOD is above all and the Truth can be given to whom ever He chooses to share.

The poor man with no education could be full of God's Truth and wisdom... And the theologist could recite words with no understanding....

The poor man will share the poem and know what it means....

The spiritualy blind can read it aloud but not perceive.....

Do you mind if I ask if you are a Pastor in some capacity and what is your Church?

The way to look at any Christian forum is that it is open to all and anyone may contribute anything. You are not compelled to accept anything without verifying that it is supported in Scripture. So whether a person is a teacher or a novice, you can examine each contribution, and say "Amen" to things which are consistent with Scripture and edifying to the reader.

On the other hand, within a local church, it is an entirely different matter. Every church has its Statement of Faith and its spiritual leaders (pastors, evangelists, teachers, elders). If they are consistent with Scripture you are to give heed. If not, then you can question the teaching.

Teaching is one of the gifts of the Spirit. I would much rather hear a teacher who is anointed by the Holy Spirit than someone who just earned a Bible degree.

It is a real joy when you can find a teacher that is both anointed and educated....the primary example we have for this is the Apostle Paul....he was both.....

Yes I can agree with that indeed,

I'll be honest here, I have zero bible education, the only bible education I get is from one on one, and through other people He so chooses. :)

Yes., and we should do that before joining the local church so we are not arguing or being vexed in our spirit. That is no good for anyone to join a church and question all the time the statement of faith held in that church.

And yes. when we come here on CC we have opportunity to learn as well as share. But we have to constantly (as we do in our daily lives with any other Bible teacher) know what we believe from the Bible and our relationship with the Holy Spirit who was given to each of us believers to lead us each individually into truth so we can walk in faith. There is a time to e learning and a time to use what we have learned to be able to stand so we are not blown away by every wind of teaching of different doctrines.

We all have tons to learn but we don't follow every tom, dick and harry. We follow Christ based on our own personal relationship to Him and His Holy Spirit that Jesus gave us for that very reason. We need to be able to stand having done all to stand we need to be able to do it at some point even when all others disagree.
