Part 2
Apostate Judaism remained wedded to its useless abolished religious system that was left unto them desolate, Matthew 23-38, Luke 13-35. This system has been destroyed forever (desolate) and replaced with an eternal covenant by the blood of the Testator, Christ, Hebrews 9. An eternal testament that will not be altered or tampered with. The ceremonial and civil covenants at Sanai were never said or meant to be eternal. But were added because of disobedience in the wilderness. However, the moral portion of the law in that covenant has been magnified in the New Testament. Thus abiding by faith in the Law of Christ walking after the law of the Spirit through faithfulness to God having heart purity producing the good deeds of faith.
Galatians 4:22-33 tells of two types of children of Abraham: “it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the Scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.”
In this allegorical description the scriptures here are comparing natural Israel to spiritual Israel. Paul is telling these Gentile believers that they are the true offspring of “Isaac.” He is demonstrating that those that are “born of the Spirit” are “the children of promise” and therefore “free.” He depicts unregenerate Israel as of the bond woman Hagar “that which is born of flesh” is in bondage to sin, or as Jesus told them in the Temple in John 8, the servant of sin abides not in the house forever.
The New Testament reveals the outworking of the promises to the Gentiles being grafted into believing Israel. “IE” Grafted into ALL Israel, Romans 9-6, 11-26. Paul was simply informing the Jewish believers by faith that grace was going to be expanded outside of Israel, in that the Gentiles were about to be brought into the same singular fold of grace as the Jewish believers. All one in faith in Christ Jesus.
