He is saying your argument is logically inconsistent and self-contradictory despite the fact you think you are right.
Do not think myself to be right, but do believe the Eastern Orthodox Church is the original Church that Christ handed down to His Apostles. That’s all.
Whatever makes him feel better. There were scripture references and explanations all through out the response.

Was just agreeing to disagree on that post. Thanks for the recommendation although think would rather be on a Greek Orthodox forum.
Not a wise idea. It is one of the reasons I am not on a strictly "Vineyard" Forum. I don't want just a "back-slapping" Mutual Admiration Forum. There is no challenge to your intellect that way. And it is also why I don't often just quote "Boilerplate" from some Fr. or Priest. I feel if you cannot state some simple beliefs in your own words, then they may not really be your own beliefs in the first place. Yes, there is a place for quotations, but not in the elementary things.

You've been here for only 1 day and you're ready to jump ship? Also, you were not raised "prodostant". That's not even how it's spelled..
I also wondered what "Maryters" were. Martyrs, I know, but.....

Well having some health issues and my own words usually get confused and jumbled trying to relay things so since it was explained perfectly in that post decided to copy and paste it.
And that’s a pretty judgmental and egotistical statement saying if you can not state in your own words they are not your beliefs WOW. Who are you to judge anyone? Maybe all the thoughts you have come up with in your own reasoning have made you as prideful to speak in such a way.

Arrogant in my Faith only because there is only ONE truth. Orthodoxy gives you all the tools to live a Christian life.

The last GO service I attended was a funeral about a month ago. The Fr. had certainly grown a fine white beard, and the hour and fifteen minutes he spent swinging smoke at the casket, and holding a book way up in the air were entertaining. But the eight minutes he spoke about the young man lying there, dead, showed clearly that he hadn't even done much more than learned his name, and the names of his parents.

No place I need to be....... except to comfort my sister-in-law- at a time like that.

I've never seen anything like that, but I tend to inappropriate giggling when I get nervous.

Thank you for the warning. No disrespect intended.

It honestly does come off as a rehearsed farce of a Shakespearean play.

Maybe you should have followed along in the funeral service book and then you would know what was going on and how beneficial and important the prayers in an Orthodox Funeral are for the soul of the deceased person.

But of course choosing to judge the service and the priest instead, may God have mercy on you and forgive you.

The kid had been dead for a week and a half. What were the prayers supposed to do for him?

And, you need a BOOK to tell you what is going on?

Umm...For someone who doesn't want to argue, and simply wants her account deleted, because she doesn't like that others see Scripture differently than her, she's doing a pretty good job of arguing, even AFTER getting the info she needs to delete her account!

What was the benefit of it to his soul? His soul wasn't present to hear.

I find this interesting since I know nothing about the Catholics. :)

Can someone please tell me how do do this? Did not realize y’all just argue about Bible verses and who’s right. Eastern Orthodoxy has over 2000 years experience in Christianity, testified by Maryters and Saints. But somehow y’all think it started with reformation....Or that Catholic Church of Rome was original church. It was not. Was raised prodostant and not trying to go backward so please delete my account. Thanks!
It is true that in the Bible Discussion Forum there are often heated exchanges but there are other forums besides that one. Even on that forum there is a thread called Speak Your Mind which is very friendly, amusing, and uplifting, where mean-spiritedness is not tolerated. All of the frequent regulars treat each other with respect and dignity and genuinely care about each other. Also, the Singles forum is a safe haven and very lighthearted. You don't have to be single to contribute as everyone is welcome. You really have to give this place a chance. It has been a blessing to many as well as myself. Oh, once you join you can never leave, it's like the Hotel California so you mind as well relax and enjoy the ride. This was stated in the rules section albeit in very small print. We are family here. I think that's a song.

I don't really want to argue. But, I really am amazed that anyone would sit still for those kinds of shows when the Bible clearly demonstrated that Jesus had nothing to do with that kind of ..... whatever it is.

Well if you were at a Greek Orthodox Church the service would be in Greek.

He doesn’t need to hear it lol. It benefits them because your soul is eternal so the prayers of the priest are praying for mercy on his soul.

Well, in defense of the BDF, Jesus did say that He would spew out lukewarm coffee, didn't He? Or did He drink tea?
