But who cares what the bible has to say right? :p ( This is a jokingly asked question )

I'm someone who doesn't see the Word of God as authority... I just see God as the Authority. The Word of God, is inspired by men by the holy spirit, and it is the written Word of God, but isn't the authority, God is... in the end.

Some can use the Word of God as a rule book, and mandate certain ways and things by it as if they are the one in charge taking care of what needs to be took care off, but really it is subjective individually...

This is why Love is so important, and I am very thankful for the Word of God, because with out it, we could never have learnt about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! :)

God bless.

God who has no form chose a written authority as unchangeable a law, a living abiding law that God himself is under the authority of.

Psalms 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

It would appear he performs that work to take away the possibility of the oral traditions of men as philosophy (no law) as that which men use to make the perfect law of God without effect. But without that perfect law no man could seek after him who has no form .He must do the spirirutl work to quicken our souls and give us simply one His understanding..

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.Psa 19:7-10

What kind of law of faith (the unseen) other than the imaginations of ones own heart gives you the understanding of the things not seen?

Hello MatthewG,

Love is good, as we should love God with all our heart, souls, strength and minds, love our neighbors as ourselves, and even love our enemies. And to love God also means to have faith in the rest of his word.

If the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit as you say ( and it is ) then it is the Word of God and as such it is an Authority... Otherwise a person is claiming that Gods Holy Spirit sent lies into the minds of the prophets and the apostles..

The Holy Bible is either Authoritative or it is not..

Is there any scripture to back up; as far as who has authority?

mathew 28 " And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Paul...

acts 17 "
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead."

john 12 " He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. >>>>>49For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak."

peter

acts 3 "
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; 20And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

22For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 23And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

24Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. 26Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities."

"
And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed."

paul

Galatians 3 "
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed."

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law,
being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:>>>>>>>That the blessing of Abraham < might come on the Gentiles< through Jesus Christ; <that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith."

the promise given to abraham for all people of the earth, was a promise to the gentiles in the future that the holy ghost would also be offered to them and they would be included in Gods people through Christ Jesus. Hes the authority. Lord of Heaven and earth, Mediator of the covenant, High priest, Son of God. His word is where salvation comes from and what will be the judgement of every person.

So you disagree with the Lord, you place the Lord's name or the Lord above His word and the Lord places His word above His name or Himself.

Psalm 138:2
I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name.”

Brother Johnny,

Philippians 2:9 wherefore, also, God did highly exalt him, and gave to him a name that is above every name, (Jesus Christ.)

I don't believe my post had an inquiry to this at all.

I just believe that God has all the authority. It talks about it later on in 1st Corinthians 15, about when everything has been placed underneath the Lord Jesus Christ's feet.

Here is what 1st Corinthians 15:26-28 says...

26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For “God has put everything under His feet.” Now when it says that everything has been put under Him, this clearly does not include the One who put everything under Him. 28 And when all things have been subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.

Since I believe that the bible is completed, I believe that God is the final authority.

I don't believe in any authority besides God/His Son as brother FollowJesus shared with us, and the Law of the Lands we have.

^I know I placed God/His son here, but it shouldn't take anything away, from God being the final authority.

Here is how the longest chapter in the Bible starts out and it is dedicated to the Lord's word. Psalm 119:1-8

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord!2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart!3 They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways.4 You have commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently.5 Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes!6 Then I would not be ashamed, when I look into all Your commandments.7 I will praise You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous judgments.8 I will keep Your statutes; oh, do not forsake me utterly!”

Then it goes on to say in verses 119:9-16 “9 How can a young man cleanse his way?By taking heed according to Your word.10 With my whole heart I have sought You; oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.12 Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes.13 With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth.14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches.15 I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways.16 I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.”

Everything in this chapter of the Psalms is about the Word of the Lord and the results of it in our lives. Have you noticed that all of the things that the Spirit inspired the Psalmist to write is all things that were written for us to meditate on, keep in our hearts, they keep us from sinning against the Lord, they help us keep His precepts, His commandents and we know His testamony by His word.

Think about what you are saying, if His word in not authoritative, then why should we keep it? We are born again by His word I Peter 1:22-23
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,”

James 1:18
Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.”

John 17:17
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”

His truth is His word, without His word we do not know who He is or what He thinks. Without His word their is no relationship with the Lord.

Okay, yes. I agree if you read the Word of God, it will change your life. I didn't say it would not.

The Words change you, and they are kept in your memory because of what?
The Holy Spirit, by growing in the knowledge of God, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

You still remember what Jesus Christ told you, Love God, and Love Others as yourself.

That is why love is important, and I shared it here.

His truth is His word, without His word we do not know who He is or what He thinks. Without His word their is no relationship with the Lord.

I don't mind that you said this here, but the Lord Jesus Christ is the Truth, the way, and the life.
By
accept/believe/have faith Him, and everything He has done you can have a relationship with God, and Jesus Christ.

And you can have a relationship with them anywhere, anytime, without the bible in your hand...

Remember I said accept/believe/have faith is a big step for anyone who never believed before, and what happens when they do accept the truth after they are given it?

They are in-dwelled by the holy spirit, and they can go on and read the Word of God from themselves, and learn and grow in knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and God if they wish to, because I dont know if every person who believes in God and JEsus Christ reads there bible every day all the time, maybe sometimes but you know what I mean?

They just remember what Jesus Christ said, and do that... and Im sure they share their own experience with God and JEsus Christ to others

God bless friend.

Other than according to the same spirit of faith of God who hew out the tablets of stone and wrote the words coming from his own mind with His finger ?

On a separate note........the OP uses the word "love" rather than "charity" which is used in the KJV......and this is important.

Why? Because there is a huge difference betwixt the connotations of love and charity.

The word love covers a multitude of areas that have nothing to do with charity which is the actual agape love of God. the perfect love of God.

For example:

I love Banana Pudding......but I am not very charitable towards it.

I love Peach Cobbler....but I am not very charitable towards it.

I love fishing, eating pizza, ice cream, a good steak, and so on and so forth. Love often describes the human form of love, and that is not the perfect love of God. Humans, who give their love to another, expect something in return. They expect to have their love returned to them. The perfect love of God does not come with conditions.......it is UNCONDITIONAL love.

So, when addressing this issue, I simply find it does not do justice to Scripture to simply state "love."

But, now, that is just me I suppose..............soooooo

No brother just read what I shared from scripture to get an description what love is like, God is love, it's why love is so important.

To be kind and gentle to other human beings who breathe just the same regardless of where they are at in their life.

Why? Because there is a huge difference betwixt the connotations of love and charity.

The word love covers a multitude of areas that have nothing to do with charity which is the actual agape love of God. the perfect love of God.

For example:
I see that a little differently. If I could add to it.

Agape, God’s one sided love is the one source of all love, when it does its living work in the heart of man it is charity.Charity is love doing its hidden work .I think you could say grace as love(God) doing its charity work according to loves great mercy.

God is Love. God is Light. God is Spirit. Those three make up God who is not a man as us.

I love French Vanilla Pudding as a inanimate object as the things of this world......but it is not very charitable towards me, it provides no spiritual food. Our spiritual food which the disciples at first knew not of, comes by doing the will of God as not does His work in us forming Christ in us. The Son of man, Jesus said his food/ meat was do the will of the father not seen.

I Love Jesus because his Love that works in us is charitable, to me. His love is not unconditional but is unfailing, conditioned by what it does with us, in us . The first work of His love that works in us is, His love is first and foremost long suffering , the first condition giving rise to the second aspect or condition . His love is Kind . Knowing that if love did not do the first work of long suffering it could not be kind. That follows all the way to the last condition of His unfailing love.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I putaway childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 1Co 13:13

I think the two words (Love and Charity) work together as one way to put away childish things .

Especially today seeing what they had in part we have the whole or perfect ending with a warning to anyone who would add or subtract from the whole.

Its what the church needs now, love sweet Jesus Love .Its the only thing there is not enough of .

Therein lies the problem. Many free gracers claim God has authority but His word doesn't because they don't think obedience is mandatory.
John 1:1 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Saying God has authority & His word doesn't is an oxymoron.

The Word of God will be what we're judged by, so yeah, it has authority.

Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Sounds like it has authority to me.

What are you doing using scripture when you proclaim that it does not have authority???

If the Holy Bible is not your authority then why use it trying to prove that it has no authority.. Totally illogical..

I never said the Word of God doesn't have any use to us today, in our life.
I never have claimed the Word of God to be bad, or not be trusted or used.

You guys just don't understand what I'm talking about and that is fine.

If you would like the bible to be your Authority, by all means. Please do so friends :)

(There are people out there that believe in something called Sola Scriptura I disagree with this method of belief)

I just don't believe it (Sola Scripture) is the correct way because I believe the Word of God, can kill you if you are not careful.

2 Corinthians 3:6 who also made us sufficient to be ministrants of a new covenant, not of (letter), but of (spirit); for the letter doth kill, and the spirit doth make alive.

I believe we can walk by the spirit, and love God, and Love others in the freedom Christ Jesus without any condemnation from other people, judgment of other people, and be led to Love other people as we travel through this huge map of life we gotta go through.

The Word of God, is awesome! We can learn so much about the Lord Jesus Christ from the Gospel we have been blessed with to have in our life, and let us thank and praise the Father, and His Son for all they have done for us!

God bless friends.

Galatians 1:
3 Grace to you, and peace from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ
