Some of my precious beloved brethren usually say, "O GOD, be with Me." Is it right to say so as a Child of GOD?

To me, it is not right. To speak like that is to be in conflict with GOD'S WORD. For JESUS CHRIST our PRECIOUS LORD said, "... I am with you always, to the close of the age (Matthew 28:20)." So, to say, "O GOD be with Me" is to be in conflict with HIS WORD. And this is not right. You ought to say, "LORD, I thank you for You're with me always." That's what you should be saying and not the other way round.

Remember to rejoice always, pray constantly and give thanks to GOD in all circumstances for this is the Will of GOD in CHRIST JESUS for you.
JESUS IS LORD.

“Oh God be with me.” Sounds like a prayer to me. It is not taking the Lord’s name in vain when you are talking to Him.

I think it may be a way for someone to remind themselves that God is indeed always there. I find when I talk to God throughout my day things go much better.

It's like saying..."Lord I believe,help my unbelief."

Nothing wrong with praying because sometimes we might, mentally know He is with us but our heart may still be heavy and we need His help to truly feel and believe.

He also said He would watch over us and take care of our needs. Does that mean we should never ask Him for anything?

Brother you are right it is wrong to ask for something that the Lord Himself has already promised to His believers. Your friends may be showing what is truely in their hearts. By asking the Lord to be with you when He has promised to be with us until the end of the age, is like calling the Lord a liar or to say that He does not have to power to complete and do what He says.

Don't forget not all that name the name of the Lord are not automatically His.

My dear precious brother and Sir, when we grow and become mature spiritually; we will understand that we don't have to ask GOD ALMIGHTY our HOLY FATHER for anything because HE has already given us all things that pertain onto life and godliness (2Peter 1:3); and also HE has blessed us with all Spiritual Blessings in the Heavenly Places in CHRIST JESUS.
What we have to do is to appreciate what HE has already done for us and thank HIM always for it. And in the NAME OF JESUS we speak or confess what we want and it will come to reality here on earth. For example, if you are single and you want to get married, just say, "In the NAME OF JESUS, I am a joyful married man/woman. Thank You LORD." Keep on speaking or confessing this and see if it will not come a reality in your life.

Because so many are still baby Christians and they don't really know Who their HOLY FATHER in Heaven is, that's why they continue asking as if HE has not given them everything that pertain to life and godliness. We may ask HIM to do something for someone but to ask for ourselves as children of GOD still shows how babies we are in the things of the Spirit. However, HE is a LOVELY FATHER and HE knows us well.
JESUS our PRECIOUS LORD said, we should learn from HIM. And the HOLY SPIRIT says, as JESUS is so are we. How did JESUS CHRIST our LORD functions when HE was here on earth physically! It's well written in HIS WORD which is in the Bible.

Thank you Sir because of your question, this has been written and many will learn from it.
I love you.
JESUS IS LORD.

then why pray at all

yet the Psalms say to pour out your heart to God and Paul says to pray without ceasing

there is not some state of special spiritual status wherein we do not pray...that would be an opinion or an interpretation that you believe to be true but not what the Bible says

even Jesus prayed to His Father...but you conclude only babies pray...which is not what Jesus says so it appears you do not understand what Jesus says

it is not wrong to pray in any circumstance.

you are wrong

ridiculous

if a person is in dire circumstances and they pray for protection, they are calling God a liar?

again I say...ridiculous

this is not maturity and not biblical

accusing? yes...it seems the op might be believing himself to be superior in some way...and you are agreeing

sounds to me like one of those condemnatory threads that pop up from time to time

In the 3rd Chapter of Ephesians, Paul prayed that God would be with the Ephesians.

Also in:

Ephesians, 6
Colossians, 4
2 Thessalonians, 3
Romans, 15
Phillipians, 1
Hebrews, 13
Philemon, 1

and others.

Thank you for this interesting perspective. I do ask God to be with me or to be with my loved ones during hard times. I believe you are correct in saying it isn't needed because He has already promised to always be with us. This will make me think differently I'm sure the next time I think, "Please God be with me".

You are correct..

If we believe the scriptures then we believe God is with us in the form of the Holy Spirit..

But i believe some of those people who are saying this have simply fallen into the habbit of using fancy religious jargon that sounds religious.. many of them are actually saying ""God help me"" But they are using the term ""O God be with me"" because they have heard someone else use it and it sounds ""cool"" to them..

when you have a 'personal' relationship with our Saviour, you already know that He is always
there beside you, knowing what you need...I believe that it brings Him pleasure to hear your
trusting Faith in asking Him to hold His hand in our times of need...

Thank you Sir for this. Indeed so many people has being brought up in religious standard and it is so difficult for them to leave such habits because it sound good or cool but not everything that sound good or cool is right. And Religion is not Christianity. These are quite two different things.

John 14:21 is one of the biggest scriptures in the bible. It clearly teaches us that there is a difference from us being in Christ and Christ fully disclosing His Person and Nature and Goodness to the Believer.

He who has My Commandments, and keeps them, he it is who loves Me: and he who loves Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him. (We can keep His Commandments only by allowing the Holy Spirit to work within our lives, which He does based in our Faith expressed in Christ and the Cross.)

You reminded me of.....
]b]Romans 10:6-7
But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise,
Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven?
(that is, to bring Christ down from above)
Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.[/b]

I agree with you. If we do what is pleasure to Jesus, this already is sign that He is with us and working in us His wishing and carrying out of His good will (Phil 2.12,13).

Who prays "O GOD, be with Me" is, in fact, trying to force Jesus to do what they desire. They are trying to outrage the Lamb of God.
