I try and send out a bible verse image to a close group of ladies and we sometimes discuss how those verses impact our lives for the week.

I thought to share the blessing here.

I will post a verse when I can and we can discuss what it means and how it changes how we look at the world or how we behave or act towards others.

Have a blessed day.

It means that we cannot out give the Lord. When we support the Work of God through our local church and foreign missions we are keeping the lights on both literally and figuratively. When I die, I will not be entering heaven empty-handed. By God's grace, He has allowed me to build up a nest egg for my eternity. Does it mean a nicer mansion? Does it mean that I will have a special crown to wear?

In a land where diamonds are dust, I doubt money will have any value. But God's Word does tell us that if we are faithful here, we will be reward there. If we suffer with Christ, we shall reign with Christ.

This verse spoke to me today because of a surprise I had this morning.

I thought nothing of letting my daughter borrow her brothers hiking boots because she had our grown hers for this weekend.
Coming from a poor family we borrowed each other's things all the time.

My husband was upset with me for doing it and also not asking my son if it was okay because he would have been mad if anyone messed with his boots growing up.

I have to admit being shocked and then angry that my son did mind. I left the house to do some errands and volunteer work for the church.

Also to pray and cool down.

I am asking God what kind of messed up middle class American values is being continued in our house? I was pretty mad, mostly are myself for not paying more attention.

When did material things, things he wasn't even going to use this weekend matter more than helping another human being? Not even a stranger but his own sister?

I wonder is my family and upbringing so strange that is basic value is not universal common morality?

I became Christian when I was seventeen. Before that my mother taught us good Buddhist values of right action and right thought. Compassion being the key and the fact that all material possessions are temporary and easily taken away so don't place value on things, place value on people.

We survived the Khmer Rouge. My father was a educated school teacher but pretended to be a farmer because they were kill all the educated folks, all the religious folks, all the monks.

I heard they buried landmines around all the temples and killed anyone who tried to get food to the monks living there. The ones they found in the open, they rounded up and killed by bashing them on the back of their heads and pushing them into mass Graves....bullets to rare and expensive.

So as these thought circled my head, I heard a small whisper and it reminded me of the verse I posted.

My mother though she never heard of Jesus until a few years ago always secretly believed in God and Dharma and good and bad angels/spirits....my mother taught me not to value things of this world but do good and receive the treasure from God in heaven.

Mom told me that all the true Cambodian Buddhist monks are all dead. The ones there now immigrated from Thailand or other places. None truly practice the Dharma (true spiritual laws) anymore. Too many who claim to be monks seek material possessions or power or fame.

I wonder how true that statement is about Christian priests, pastors, ministers, etc?

How many people truly seek God?

And how many just seek a better advantange in this world or the next?

Reading you post, as soon as you mentioned the Kjmer Rouge the vision popped into my head of the discoveries of mass "monk" murders in Cambodia. May your family be blessed always and lifted up out of those horrible memories.

I as already quite taken by your words how the useless middle class values of many cloud judgment and righteousness. You sound like a wonderful parent.

Your Mom seems to be one of those folks who though not knowing the text of the Word has the truth inscribed on her heart, a wonderful woman by your brief description. I believe your family will be juist fine. Why? You are there to help them along. May God bless you always, amen.

Yeah I doubt money will matter.

When this world discourages me I read Revelation 21 and 22 and remember our future is one where God will wipe away our every tears.

Thanks be to God.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement.

I was only two years old when we came to America, but culture plays a bigger role than I realized in shaping my world view and values.

I built up a nest egg for my retirement. Did I do wrong?
Not at all, unless you robbed God to do it. I would doubt this is the case but some folks say they can't tithe because they have to save up for a rainy day. Well, it is the Lord that controls the rain. Amen?

Depends...do you consider your life yours or God's?

God says to be good stewards to all the blessings He entrusts us with in the parable of the talent God expects double his return for His investment, not for you to bury it.

I think I need to pray need and speak less some days
You're right! The enemy is pleased when most of our time is spent in Bible discussion so that very little or no time is left for prayer.

God has always watched over us and yet we worry so much about things that are under His control.

Sometimes I just lay back and stare at the sky and wonder:

what is hidden by the clouds?

What important task does God assign His angels to do?

Can we replicate just a small ounce of natural beauty God has surrounded us with?

Hope you have a blessed day.
