She reminds me of the pacifist that was banned a few years ago....saying if his wife or girlfriend was being raped or murdered he would pray about it or try to TRIP the guy o_O......made me want to spew and blood boil
Very strange ideas!

Most people that get raped dont even tell the police. I think its better nowadays but still. Also theres date rapes.

Again, question how do you RESIST evil. Do we all carry rolling pins?
First, you have to ask yourself: How does evil manifest itself to us? How do Satan and his minions attack us? We know he is called the prince of the power of air. So that should tell us he can throw thoughts into our heads. You know the kind I'm talking about. Someone cuts you off in traffic and that hate thought pops up. That is why we have our shield of faith, hopefully soaking wet with our prayers. It will immediately put out those fiery darts.

Another way Satan attacks us is through other people, that he has mastered their usage. We need be especially careful here. Our shortcomings will show themselves most when we are apt to offend others. If they are offended by our resisting their evil, all is well. But if it's because of a chink in our amour, it will be on us. So, to answer your question: How do we resist evil? Any way we can.

Most people that rape are known to the family actually. Like step siblings, uncles etc. and sexual molestation can happen over long periods, not just one offs.
You seem to be confusing different types of crimes.

When I think of resistance, I think of the flesh, of our fleshly desires, thoughts, and attitides.. I think this is where we get to getting on our knees and praying and reading the word, and even seeking counsel if necessary.

Lately, I have found myself in a season of resistance, an area of unattractive weakness within my character. But I cling to some of my fav verses to help me as I seek His will rather than my own.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
PHILIPPIANS 4:4‭-‬7 NASB

I am so thankful that He helps us see where we need to grow, establishing and perfecting us. I rejoice with joy in my heart and mind, knowing that He renews and sanctifies.

What does the Bible tell us about resistance, and how to resist? Any tips and how to put into action...in any situation?
Since we are told to resist the devil and he will flee from us, Christians need to know what God has provided to accomplish this.

Satan attacks Christians in three ways: (1) deception (as the wily Serpent), (2) temptation (as the Angel of Light), and (3) terrorism or fear (as the Roaring Lion). If you carefully study Genesis 3, he used all three weapons on Eve.

How does one resist deception? With the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) (Matthew 4)

How does one resist temptation? By walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5)

How does one resist fear? With the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6)

Since this is spiritual warfare (in hearts and minds), it has to be fought with spiritual weapons.

3 For though we walk in the flesh [the mortal body], we do not war after the flesh [with human strength]:
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal
[fleshly or humanistic], but mighty through God [supernatural] to the pulling down of strong holds,
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ
(2 Cor 10:3-5)

Lets focus on resistance. How do we resist?

When Jesus resisted the devil in the wilderness, did he have a gun and a sword. Nope. I wonder how he did it then.
Jesus had the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God ... and He showed us how to utilize the Word when we are faced with the fiery darts of the adversary.

In Eph 6 we read about the whole armor of God which we are to put on.

First point ... we must be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Eph 6:10). This means we are to spend time with Him, grow up and be mature adults in Him. If we think we can remain children (spiritually speaking) and put on the armor of God, we are fooling ourselves ... so, time to grow up in the Lord.

Then we put on the whole armor of God in order to stand against the wiles of the devil. We stand strong against the onslaught of satan. We are protected because we have put on the armor of God. We do not fight the devil ... we just stand and withstand in the evil day and having done all ... stand (Eph 6:13). That word withstand in vs 13 is the same Greek word translated "resist" in James 4:7.

When Jesus Christ faced the devil, He stood His ground ... didn't give an inch. He responded to satan's nonsense with "it is written".

Sadly, many believers are ignorant of what God's Word says and they have no Rock to stand on when satan comes calling. Hosea 4:6 tells us My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. God was not referring to a lack of knowledge of man's wisdom ... He refers to a lack of knowledge of His Word whereby we are able to stand, withstand, resist in the evil day.

Another interesting thing about Eph 6 and putting on the armor is that once we are fully clothed with God's armor we are told to pray always with all supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Prayer is a powerful (and under-utilized) weapon in our arsenal.

17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

Can you be specific do you know how many resistance movements there have been?;)
No I cant count them all. If every christian practises resistance in their own spiritual walk, then it would run into the billions.

However some names and situations come to mind. William wilberforce who protested and resisted practise of slavery in Britain, Dr Martin Luther King Junior who led non violent resistance to racism in america. The womens temperance movement. Recent smokefree movement against tobacco. Banning plastic bags which harm the environment...this was made into law recently.
Zero tolerance for bullying.

Prayer has certainly been the most potent weapon. In all accounts Jesus prayed every morning in all the time he was doing ministry, and not once did he retaliate with violence and harm anyone when anyone provoked him. He even said to his disciples who wanted fire to come down from heaven, to destory their enemies you dont know what spirit you speak of.

Certainly Jesus could have justified violence in mans eyes when his cousin John the baptist was beheaded. He could have sought revenge. But he didnt. Think on this from the time Jesus was born he had people after him like King Herod who wanted him dead. Did he raise up an army to overthrow the monarchy? Nope he didnt. Could he have deposed king herod and seated himself on the throne? Certainly many people thought he could have done that. But he resisted that temptation.

What does the Bible tell us about resistance, and how to resist? Any tips and how to put into action...in any situation?

Or do we just go through life never taking a stand about anything.
Everybody resists someone, and something, no matter who they are, for there will always be an opposition to you whether you are atheist, religious, or of the occult, and even your lifestyle of how you live.

People been resisting, and fighting over every belief possible, even to the point of fighting over tiny things.

And we have come to the point in time where it is time for the men and women to fight.

It was inevitable.

Of course the saints would resist the opposition, and take a stand against them, but they do it in love, and compassion, unlike the world that may do it in violence at times.

Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Of course we resist the devil, which we do not want to worship him, but mainly means do not do the things that are rebellious towards God's goodness, and authority.

Resist evil spiritually, and resist sin.

Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

We do not resist evil physically, but if they physically persecute us we have to take it the same as the man Christ Jesus, for if we fight back then we are acting like the world.

I know some people will not agree, and it can be hard to do not only because of the physical pain you might receive, but also because of the humiliation of appearing as a wimp, but that is according to the flesh, for by the Spirit you will act accordingly.

Many people will fail at this, but all sin can be forgiven which is a good thing.

Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

God said vengeance is mine, and we let God deal with them, which nothing can happen unless God allows it, like they could not touch Jesus until the time came.

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Rev 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

Mat 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

When the beast makes war against the saints God warns the saints not to fight back, for however they fight back it will come back on them, the same as Jesus that said that they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

That is the patience and the faith of the saints to be able to endure it, and soon they will be with Jesus.

Are you looking for an excuse to rebel or protest against something? Looking to the Bible to justify self~well? "Resistance" in the world is subjective and usually stems from some ideological superiority against some other group or idea. The gospel, by it's very nature is dissident to every single person on the planet apart from the Holy Spirit.
Here's a hint. Go out into the business or cultural center of your town/city and talk/preach/engage with strangers about Jesus Christ. Start by taking a stand for Him! And if you live through it you might learn some things.

When Jesus went into the temple and cast out those who sold and bought, and He overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, how do you think He did it?

Mark 11:

15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.

Did He just blink and, voila, they all left?

Did He physically place His hands on people and forcibly drive them out of the temple?

What about the tables of the money changers?

How did He stop people from using the temple as a marketplace?

Here is how Jesus removed these people from the temple early in His ministry:

John 2:

13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

He was a shepherd, he drove them (sheep and oxen) out using a whip. Then he spoke to them. Do you have a problem with that?

. Later the temple was completely destroyed, because it had already become home to idolatry and abominations. JEsus warned about this. Even God himself did not want to live there, as the holy of holies had already been desecrated. It was ichabod. He didnt kill the money changers. He just upturned their tables.

Your point?

No.

How about you.

Resistance is in the Bible.
We already spread the gospel through teaching bible in public schools and have been doing this for many years. For thousands of children. For half an hour a week, for some children its the only time they ever hear a prayer or the Word.

I think the temptation to fight back is common among christians but thats succumbing to the world. They see it gets results, but its only short term. The devil is happy to put up a fight.
Resistance is actually far more effective. The devil flees.

Heres something, basic. As an example of resistance.
You get loads of junk mail. Do you put it in piles of stuff you want to read, or not want to read. Do you constantly empty your letterbox or inbox? Do you write to the people that send it to you, telling them to stop. Sometimes if you do this they just send you more junk.

Well how about using resistance. Put up a no junk mail sign or a filter on your email so it wont accept unsolicited mail. Even better refuse to subscribe or give your email and address out to anybody you dont know or trust.

Why does James, brother of Jesus tell us to resist the devil?

He actually gives us some concrete examples of things WE can do.

He asks why is there fighting s and wars amongst us? They come about because of lust. They come because people are still friends with the world. He tells us to humble ourselves and not be proud. Why because God RESISTS the proud.

See God practices resistance too. He doesnt even answer the proud.

James also warns about being doubleminded. He tells us not to speak evil of our brother. Stop talking about your five year plan cos who knows what God plans for you. Stop boasting about your ambitions, just do what the Lord tells you to do.

The letter from James seems like its tailored for hard nosed businessmen (and maybe now, women) who only kowtowed to people with lots of money and live in idleness and pleasures. . How many of us are like this and give no thought to the poor, the widowed and fatherless. Who is our God, God almighty or god of our bellies? Good question.

I used to work in retirement villages and saw many of the same people James describes, going on luxury cruises, treating the poor with disdain, underpaying the people that they hire to help them. CEOS earning billions from the deaths of widows and selling their properties. They never actually visited these properties themselves. They just made money off them. For people that worshipped money, they thought it was a good thing! And that pride was good too.

I was like no thats a despicable thing to do. Anyway i stopped working for satans kingdom after found this out. This is one of the temptations that besets a lot of us...a life of leisure as opposed to a life that may include suffering, and financial hardship, but eternal reward.

Jesus showed us how we are to live our lives. He is the perfect example of wisdom, righteousness, lovingkindness, etc., etc. ad infinitum ...

At times, Jesus used words to resist ... as He did during His temptation in the wilderness and numerous times in the face of the pharisees and sadducees.

At times, Jesus used active force ... as He did in ridding the temple of the money changers.

All the time, Jesus prayed for Father to lead Him.

As members of the body of the Lord Jesus Christ, of which He is the Head, we trust Him to lead us in the way we should go. But first and foremost, we must discern truth from error. The ministry of satan is steal, kill, destroy. he does this through ideas and ideology and he works through people.

look at what is happening in the use of pronouns ... "he" is now "she" (or "it") if he determines he does not want to be a "he". Does that change the fact that chromosomally (not even sure that is a word) "he" is still a he? No. We label things and say they are one thing but our saying so does not make it so.

Nonbinary? Intersex? 11 U.S. states issuing third gender IDs
People in New Jersey will be able to mark their gender as “undesignated/nonbinary” on their birth certificates from Friday, the latest U.S. state to liberalize its policies.
A report in October that U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration was considering defining gender as male or female based on genitalia at birth drew widespread condemnation.

We all know that females have two X chromosomes and males have one X and one Y.

I am female and have two X chromosomes. If I decide I want to identify as a male, that does not make me a male. Even if others call me male, or he, his, him, this does not change one of my X chromosomes into a Y chromosome. I still have two X chromosomes and I am still she, her. It is self-delusion to buy into this lie promulgated by satan. Yet that is what many are doing.

And, in some jurisdictions, if you continue to call me "she" or "her" after I have told you to call me "he" or "him", I could sue you and you could be forced to pay a fine.

This is just one example of the principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places we wrestle against which requires us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might as we put on the armor of God in order to stand and withstand in the evil day.
