If I remember the story correctly she would have been killed if she didn’t speak up.
she could have been killed for speaking up or her entire people would have been killed if she did NOT speak up.

Have you never read of the holy woman in the Old Testament, Meriam, Esther, Deborah and more" Will you say they did not have the permission from men? God certainly gave His.
This is why I have always grappled with this issue ~ God has used so many women in such strong, powerful, beautiful ways...the verses I provided almost seem contradictory, but I don't want to discount Scripture at all. I want to take it for what it says.

If you go to The Scriptures for ALL of your answers, then you’ve already answered your own question 😁
You can go to the Scriptures for all of your answers, and still have questions about what the meaning of something is. I don't know where this preconceived notion is on here (sometimes) that if you ask a question about an interpretation of something than it means you don't understand the word of God or you don't use it as the main source of your Truth. I do...nobody knows every single tiny meaning that resides behind passages; it is okay to ask questions. I am not attacking you personally at all and this probably came off as harsh, but I am just putting it out there for people to read that it is okay to use the Bible as your source of infallibility and still have questions and seek the Holy Spirit and fellow believers for answers. God bless!

Howdy maryjohanna and welcome to the forum.

First, this is a topic often debated in many groups of Christians, both online and offline. You will not get a new clear answer here. You may get some answers, but people will contradict each other and you've heard all the arguments for both sides before.

Second... well, there is no second. I'm not going to get on this carousel again.
 I know! I guess I just wanted to hear people's responses on this forum to hear people out. I am a big believer in listening to understand. God bless!

well remember Paul was preaching to newly converted Gentiles it wasnt like he was preaching to the Prophets. the speaking out of turn thing was quite common and you know how us women in general love to talk. If we did not keep silent the men would not have been able to get a word in. It was to keep order in the church. Most women are respectful of that and do let men go first.

But that also means us women get the LAST word which is actually the most important as thats the one people remember...

the verses also quoted in OP pertain only to married women...so if you are not married, dont worry about them. You dont have a husband at home to ask anyway.

Maryjo- yes, you are ok in your walk. Sadly it seems there is an uptick in trolls who "claim" Christ but goad those they supposedly claim fellowship with. The early church fellowship together and were in one accord. Today this is an imperfect way to communicate yet it does allow His truth to go forth. Jesus was clear how in this time many would have an outward form and deny the power, the rough time you had with your thread may be a part of what He meant.
He gave us each other, the "eklesia" to grow together, not tear apart.
I am finding the "ignore" function to be a help here.

Maryjo- I found this from a CC friend of ours and wanted to share this with you-
Just read this in daily devotion...
The value of interdependence can never be underestimated. God, in His kindness, graciously provides people as His agents for mutual good. Listening ears and helpful hands; wise, comforting, and correcting words—these and other resources come to us and through us to others. Together we win and God gets the glory!

If a women wanted to preach i would not stop her, Joyce Meyer says things and does things that are questionable but she is a woman of God in her own right.
