...what's your favorite thing to have for dinner?

Note: A selection of replies will be used for nefarious purposes.
I mean, I'm trying to come up with 2 weeks' worth of meals to feed my family.

So, same thing.

When I was an assistant to a chef at this private club I worked at for a year,we had to come up with new specials every friday night. Me, being mr. Italian & enjoying a nice spirit now & again, took the lazy man's way out & said.."let's just make chicken cordon bleu & give it a twist...we'll add Galliano to it at the end when it's about 5 mins left for cook...it will fuse into the chicken, then put a nice little swirl of it on the plate it's being served on...sprinkle a little gold leaf over it (optional) and there you have it...Chicken Cordon GOLD! $35 a plate... RESULT! People loved it. If you don't know what Galliano is,it's an Italian liqueur. It has a sort of vanilla anise taste to it...with a bit of citrus twang, which is why I thought it might go nice with the chicken. (and it does) Galliano is like $30 -$40 a bottle, and if I remember right, about 30% alcohol by volume...so go easy on it,you don't need a ton...yer' adding flavor, not doing body shots with it. LOL Ok maybe this isn't a good family oriented meal..sorry. What do you expect from someone with no kids..sheesh.:)

Spanish rice!! :)

1 lb. lean hamburger (bulk)

about half of a green pepper chopped into small pieces

I use a little bit of diced/sliced celery, but only about 1/4 cup of it. Anymore it doesn't it taste as good in my opinion.

half a tomato chopped into medium sized pieces (in order to keep the juices from squeezing out I cut the tomato in half and slice it and put it into the pan as is)

If you wanna use a real onion, use 1/4 of an onion. If you wanna save time and just do dehydrated, just get about a teaspoon of dried minced onion. Or you can just omit the onion from it altogether :)

once the hamburger is cooked, use a can of tomato soup, and then I put in chili powder and cayenne/red pepper sauce :) I like a bit of kick to my Spanish rice.

Recommended serving of rice for this recipe is about 2-4 servings. It feeds 5 people either way if you do 2 or 4. :D

(I just decided to put my version out since it's my favorite thing to cook and I think I make a pretty rockin' Spanish Rice. If there's any tomato soup I'm DEFINITELY gonna have it for dinner.)

You realize by giving her all these dishes to prepare for her family this is gonna seriously cut into our time with her here in chat. I'm not sure if I can get behind this movement 100% lol

Generic meat by-product???

What Zao is trying to say is that... HE LOVES SPAM.

Either that or he lives near the highway.

Those might not be grill marks on his (squirrel, possum, armadillo) steak.

They might, in fact, be tire treads.

HA! No. It shall not have that effect. This is not something new, hence why I'm having such a hard time coming up with my own ideas.

I've got over 20 cookbooks.

I've tried most of the less scary recipes in them.

The irony of this all...I can't cook. Well. I should clarify. I have a very minor, very pathetic ability to cook.

Also, I'm deadly with a knife. I could die just looking at one.

*Sigh* Why can't I just bake cakes and cookies and muffins and breads and feed those to my family for dinner? Pssh. Bunch of...eaters around here.

I just had cheesy fries for my dinner. I love me some cheesy fries. ;) (If you are lactose intolerant, you might want to just scroll past my favorite dinners list entirely)

How to make them: Cut potatoes into fry shapes. Add olive oil and seasonings of choice to fries. Put fries in oven and bake at 400 F for 35-40 minutes. Then take out fries and top with some thinly sliced cheese, then put it back in the oven for ONLY 2 MINUTES, it will melt fast. Take out. Enjoy.

I also am a fan of homemade pizza.
Chicken wings.
Stir-fry with brown rice.
Macaroni and cheese.
Lasagna.
Chicken enchiladas!
And soup. :)

No, some are grill marks, just not THAT kind of grill.

And for the record...sometimes nothing fills that gap quite like a solid spamwich.

Buffalo wings...'nuff said. I don't know about your kids, but my oldest first tried them at a year old, and rather than acting like they were too spicy, he needed more. Every man deserves buffalo wings.
