I'm with Zao. An order of meat with a side of meat and a glass of meat.

When it comes to true dinner favorite, all meals have a universal solution: breakfast. Breakfast is always the answer. What should we have for supper? Breakfast. Whaddaya feel like eating? Breakfast. What kind of food is available 24 hours a day, courtesy of Denny's, Village Inns, IHOPs, and Waffle Houses? Breakfast.

I am Thai, and I love Thai food. And I am American, and I love American food. But there is no definitely better dinner...than breakfast.

I'm with Shouryu on breakfast food. I had breakfast for supper tonight. It's pretty much my go-to meal because it's easy to make, and you can really have a lot of variety. You can go sweet with things like pancakes or french toast, or salty with biscuits and gravy and the like. Or both. :D I sometimes make a homemade "breakfast bowl" with scrambled eggs, cheese, homemade hashbrowns, and sausage or bacon if we have it. Now I'm hungry again after this breakfast talk. I wonder if it's acceptable to make pancakes at 11 PM.

I think I could also eat pizza every day, but that's not healthy or cheap. I suppose making your own could be cheaper, but there's an awesome local pizza place here so...I tend to not go the homemade route.

I also like turkey burgers a lot. I eat mine with spinach and feta cheese on it, sometimes with an avocado spread.

Tacos can have some good variety too, both with containers (not the right word, but you have soft shell, hard shell, bed of lettuce, or tortilla chips) and toppings.

When I lived by myself, I made chicken alfredo pasta quite a bit. Super easy to make, and yummy. I'd usually eat some seasoned toast with it as well.

If it wasn't, how would Village Inn stay in business?

And for the record, the best pancakes I've ever had were in Illinois. Chicago, naturally. Super fluffy, the right amount of sweet.

My favorites:
chicken pesto pasta with sundried tomato
chicken parmesan
chili and grilled cheese
curried chicken salad with grapes and celery

I'm not complicated :)

(my very favorite is curried steak, but it's not for everyone :) )
Mmmmmmmm chicken!!

Is there any chance you could direct us to the other many threads that are just like this one?

Not that I'm suggesting this thread is in any way inferior...
I just feel I owe it to myself to shop around.

I mean, I don't want to be old and gray and think,
"Man, I probably could have hooked up with a way better 'favorite dinner' thread...
a special one...
the one God really wanted me to have...
the one I'd cherish forever...
but I just settled for the first one to come along."

How could I live with myself?

Quick and easy:

1 box of macaroni and cheese and the necessary ingredients to make.
1 can of cream of mushroom soup.
1 can of tuna.

Make the macaroni and cheese like you normally would. Mix in the cream of mushroom soup and tuna. Done.

*You can also add crushed salted crackers or potato chips for additional texture and flavor.
*You can add either a can of peas or a can of peas and carrots if you want to sneak some vegetables in.
*You can also put the mixture in a casserole dish, cover in cheese or crushed crackers or potato chips and bake on 350 for about 15-20 minutes to make it into a casserole. Most people prefer this.

I can eat the entire thing for dinner so you might want to double or triple the recipe size for more people.

Country fried steak, with gravy on-top... with a side of rice and veggies. And a tall glass of coke, please.

This would make my life easier! Unfortunately, I live 30 miles away from a real town that has a Wendy's. That's why I plan for 2 full weeks of meals, so I don't have to be spending more money on gas to make more trips to the grocery store.

I think you need to make a pit stop at MissCris's house and have dinner with her and her hubby.
Anything has to be better than fast food!:)

Yeah, the faster and easier (while still being somewhat healthy), the better around here. I had this crazy idea for a while, since my daughter was born in February, that I had to be Super Cristen...and so I was trying all these fancy recipes and re-cleaning things that were already clean and basically just over doing it (when the doctor TOLD me to REST for six full weeks...ha!).

I gave up on that, it was exhausting.

Now I'd just as soon have dinner ready in 30 minutes or less, forget about the dishes until morning, and pile on the couch with my husband and kids.

You sound just like me! I was going to respond to one of your other posts where u said about leaving the dishes until morning. I spend all day being a teacher to my kids with home school that when dinner is done I just want to relax and play a game or watch a movie with my kids and just be mom!

I don't know how you feel about crockpot recipes, MissCriss, but there are some awesome ones out there. My mom makes crockpot mac and cheese, white chili, and some other ones. I'll have to get the exact recipe, but I think one is just throwing a couple of chicken breasts in, a can of salsa, and a package of cream cheese, and then mixing it up at the end. You can then put it over nachos or rice.

Edited: Oh! I thought of another one! I am not sure how old your kids are, but it's kid friendly for them to help make. You just cut take a canned biscuit round, put some cheese and pepperoni in the middle, smoosh the biscuit around it so the cheese/meat is enclosed, then put that ball in a muffin tin. They're more snacky than dinnery, but they are amazing, especially if after they're done, you brush some butter over the top and dip it in marinara sauce.
