:Jezabel Spirit" isn't in scripture, and I have never looked at it as a literal sense. I always looked at it as ones personality, and similar characteristics of this wicked woman.
Jezebel was wicked. She had an evil spirit about her. That's what I have always thought of when someone says "Jezebel Spirit"

carey : OK Carey I appreciate your passion & you certainly make some good points. But what about people like Joyce Meyers? Do you think she is called to preach? There are prophetesses in the bible, aren't there?
I see Joyce as a false teacher. For one, it isn't scriptural for a woman to have authority in the church. She also teaches things that contradict scripture.

your verse doesn't say she's a demon, but a woman, and a woman claiming to be a prophetess...

And so there you have it, this word is clear that her spirit doesn't haunt us! :)

We don't know if Jezebel was her real name or a symbolic name in Revelation 2:20. Yes, I agree who ever she is, she is not haunting anyone today. The "spirit of Jezebel is a demon spirit and not a human spirit.

I will answer these questions later when I get to a computer later on today, as for Joyce Meyer? She is involved in a truly evil ministry! Which I will go into in another thread soon! She is part of the word of faith movement which uses eastern philosophy and meditation on gaining materials, she has stated that we are all little gods, masters of our own universe, following her teaching is very dangerous, please be wary of her. And ministers like her, that ministry is leading people away from the true Gospel! They preach a different Jesus than the One found in the holy Bible!
I am so relieved to see you say this. Most pentecostals I know are involved in some crazy stuff, and think Joyce Meyer is all that and a bag of chips. You're going in the right direction. Keep it up. :)

i heard something very concerning a while ago, a christian woman said she was proud to be a feminist. this spirit of feminism is very evil, it is the spirit of jezebel. let me make something very clear, there is a tremendous difference with being a strong christian woman, and being a feminist, i pray that this will show you the difference

feminism is synonymous with lesbianism and immodesty.
"its my body i can do what i want with it"
proverbs 7:10- attire of a harlot
timothy 2:9- modest apparel

the feminist movement is not about equal rights for women, its about a communist, anti-family, anti-christian, political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their babies, practice witchcraft, and abandon homemaking.

the feminist movement castrates men by demanding equal authority
feminists want equal rights, but claim unfairness if they are asked to pay child support or alimony!

God created men to be strong, masculine, and decisive, He created women to be feminine, sweet, and lovely
feminism aims to blur these differences

jezebel was the first feminist
her daughter was called even more wicked than jezebel because she set herself up as supreme leader over israel

the feminist movement is in rebellion to Gods word

the difference between a feminist woman and a feminine woman:

a feminine woman makes a man feel like a real man, because she requires his strength and courage
a feminist woman doesn't need anything from a man, because she already has the mind of a man

biblical reasons for all that i have said:

some state that women can be pastors, i don't agree, the only title a woman was given was a deaconess, and the job of a deaconess was to attend to the needs of the women, she did NOT attend to the men's needs

junia- "esteemed by the apostles" or "of note among the apostles"
junia was NOT an apostle! if someone says you are of note among your pastors, does that make you a pastor? of course not! i don't know where people got the idea that junia was an apostle, but there is absolutely no biblical basis to support that claim!

esther humbly submitted herself to the king

ruth submitted to boaz

no where in the bible do you see women preaching to crowds of men, the prophetesses in the bible, when they did speak to a man, it was done in private, not before huge crowds

pricilla worked with her husband in correcting apollos, not over him

Gods word plainly teaches us to submit to the men in our life, feminism teaches us to revolt against them. if we continue to allow feminism in the church we are spitting in Gods face and telling Him His word means nothing to us. we are to be proverbs 31 women, let that be your model not the changes of this world...
God bless
I love this post.

alright, so my question for you guys is, if it's not in the bible, it's therefor un-biblical, so do you mind stating what this thread is doing here? (in the Bible-Discussion Forum)

Look that rev verse is speaking of the Jezebel from Kings, the only other books of the bible she is mentioned, and it clearly says woman in rev, this is from the bible and of the bible. All I can say is, I've said all there is for me to say.

Personally, I just don't find it practical, or necessary, to take on the entire feminist movement.

1. Nobody will ever understand what you're really talking about... you'll just be misunderstood.
2. There might be a couple of points, like equal wages, which you don't want to fight against.
3. You immediately put yourself (to the listener) on the "outside" of their thinking... rather than trying to connect with them.

So, although I think the feminist movement, in general, is a mess... rather than attacking it as a movement, I would simply approach women individually, and deal with them on a purely spiritual level. Once a woman accepts Christ, then she will want to please God (not women, or men).

I think the biggest problem is that unbiblical thinking has so inundated our culture, that even Christian women are bombarded by it, engulfed in it. I think more needs to be done to teach Christian women the bible.

I am NOT legalistic, and I do NOT think women are to be subservient little dishrags. They should be treated with honor and respect. What I DO believe is simply that our culture is teaching them horrible things. That being said, the culture is also teaching men to be really lousy men. So, it's not all one sided.

Would it make you feel better to call it the "personality traits of Jezebel"? Anyone who shares similar characteristics with her could be compared. These characteristics are infiltrating the church.

I agree with Maxwel that this is simply not about women. Witness the recent bombings in Boston. This is the fruit of wickedness in which our society denies God and right and wrong. Surely those young MEN had a spirit of evil to do those things?! I think Jezebel was a wicked woman, opposed God and his prophets and sadly, the world today is full of those kinds of people.

Atheists such as Dawkins publish books denying God, which make the New York Times best seller list. Society is no different than in the time of Ahaz and Jezebel, or Manasseh, where the Bible says this King ruled 55 years and did evil in the sight of the Lord (2 Kings 21)

This "spirit of Jezebel" sounds like a brainwashing technique by the hierarchical movement, to convince women they should not obey God's calling and do ministry. Surely women like Deborah, Priscilla, Phoebe and Junia were used of God in great and mighty ways to lead, teach and preach the gospel. They were obeying God. They were not feminists, which has become a derogatory term for any woman that tries to seek equality for those who have been downtrodden, much like the blacks were subjugated by the white movement as recently as the 1960's and later in the southern US.

I certainly do not agree with many aspects of the modern feminist movement, but it is important to remember that it was Christian women who led the fight in many countries for women to have the vote. And the United States was one of the last western countries to allow that right. Abortion on demand is the most repugnant platform of all of the feminists, and we would all do well to stand against that kind of nonsense. But to say that women are responsible for all the evil in our society today, because they are called of God to minister represents a total misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the Biblical text. It is an ideology that God is going to heartily condemn on judgement day.

Women are part and parcel of the plan to spread the gospel. A woman can lead a man to Christ, as I have done with many men. Why would I not be the one to disciple and teach them, as I have also done?

We have to focus on God's plan and Kingdom, instead of casting the first stone. I agree that Joyce Meyers is teaching some very wrong things, having looked at her website, but never read a book or hers, nor heard a single sermon. Yet, there are more men in the business of leading the flock astray than women, from Kenneth Hagan and Kenneth Copeland on the extreme Word Faith side, to preachers who beg for money from poor people as seed money or to pay the bills when they live like kings, like Jim Bakker was doing back in the 1980's or Jimmy Swaggart condemning unrighteousness in the morning and visiting prostitutes in the evening.

We won't even get into Joel Osteen and his "happy" gospel, without sin or repentance, or Rick Warren and his purpose driven focus, instead of being Kingdom driven. There are many other men I could cite that have a worldly spirit and there are more men using the gospel to further themselves and wrong doctrines than there are women in leadership anywhere!

I just know how few men seem to want to go into chaplaincy in long term care, and how many women are preaching and teaching and leading people to Jesus in their final hours that I have met. To suggest they have some kind of evil spirit, because they are ministering to "the least of these" tells me that people do not realize that the need is great for people to comfort the sick and dying, from a true Christian perspective.

The need for women to be part of God's plan is written all through the pages of the Bible. To pull a few passages out of context and make a doctrine that subjugates women and denies their gifts and calling is a tragedy and a travesty!! Think carefully, why would God say all men and women are equal in Gal. 3:28

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." NKJV

Neither is there any qualification for the office of pastor in Eph. 4:11-12

"And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, [SUP]12 [/SUP]for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."

I just pray daily for the members of this forum who have been deluded by man- made doctrines and swallowed hook, line and sinker the lie that women are responsible for all the evil in the church and the world.

Satan is alive and well, erecting barriers for God's female children in the hearts and minds of supposedly Christian people. The spirit of evil will continue until people understand that the gospel is for all to hear, and all to share - both Jew and Gentile, free and slave and male and female. When that happens, I know God will not only be pleased with his children, but that Christ will be returning soon!

Who is saying all women have an evil spirit? This post is by a woman about feminism and the demon called Jezebel.

Who is saying that all women are responsible for all the evil in the church and the world? I have read every post here and I never saw any thing that comes close to what you are saying. No one has said women are the cause of evil in the church and or the world.

Meditation isn't in and of itself wrong. Who you choose to meditate on determines this. God designed meditation to rest in him and bring glory to his name. It's been corrupted and become something only non-Christians practise, either meditating on themselves or pagan gods.

A blanket generalization that women who are "feminists" by the OP have the spirit of Jezebel, implies that women who in any way chose to disagree with this statement are also Jezebels. I resent being tarred with that brush. I also am grieved that women are so afraid of being labeled a "feminist" or "Jezebel" if they dare to stand for the truth that women are part of the Kingdom of God, including preaching and teaching and standing for the cause of Christ in ways which are not traditional, also tars all women with the brush!

The OP intimates that either you are Jezebel, or you are a subservient dishrag, as someone put it in this post. This either/or dichotomy basically sets all women up for failure. You may not protest, or you are condemned as evil, but if you sit back in silence, or worse, throw the first stone, you only enforce the stereotype that women are either Jezebels or "good Christian women." Good women must stand in judgment of women who may be called of God in ways others cannot understand, including the leadership of men! So how are they good women?

Besides, I did not in any way say this refers to just this post. It is a song and dance I see repeated over and over by men, and now echoed by women throwing stones. This is an on-going theme in this forum, by certain people, that women need to be silent, not be in authority. The implication that feminists are causing all the problems in society, echoes down on all women. Like uppity slaves, some of us refuse to allow men or women to continue to call down women in authority positions.

I know God will justify those of us who are accused of being Jezebels, because we have obeyed the call of God on our lives, and found that we are not a hindrance, but a help to God's Kingdom. As for those who are truly evil women, and I certainly do not deny there are many, God is the judge and he will certainly take care of them, without this kind of offensive post of non-Biblical condemnation of women.

All women are tarred with the same brush, if some women are labeled as Jezebels. Or to put it another way, two sides of the same coin. Heads you win, tails I lose. Heads men win, tails women lose.

In fact, the more likely story is the spirit of the anti-Christ pervades the world, and that is really responsible for all the evils of society. Now this is a real Biblical picture!

"and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already." 1 John 4:3

I want to add a few more things.

Even though I think I agree pretty much entirely with Carey's opening post,
the whole issue of what to do about it, is a peculiar matter.

All of those unbiblical concepts have ALREADY taken over our culture.
Women, and men, have already been overwhelmed with ideas that simply aren't biblical.

The real issue is what to do now.

I think these issues are so personal and emotional to people,
and they're such hot topics, and they've been conceived and explained
so falsely to people, that it is almost impossible to argue against them
in any simple and effective way.

I think the best thing is to focus on individuals.
When a person, male or female, becomes a Christian, and begins to learn the scriptures,
then unbiblical ideas will begin to fall away.

And just for the record, God's plan for a woman gives her enormous latitude to
use her gifts and talents, and to think for herself. In Proverbs 31 we see a woman
who not only RUNS the household, but she is also involved in commerce and her
own business. She is NOT some abused wimpy dishrag. She is smart, and motivated,
and highly respected. She is loved by her family, and she is her husband's greatest ally
and greatest treasure. In true feminism, a woman is equal to a man. In the Bible,
a woman is unique, and special, and the man puts her on a pedestal, and adores her.

How terrible.

Hi :)
I'm a Christian and I teach feminist philosophy. I do NOT believe in abortion, let alone abortion on demand, I do NOT advocate lesbianism, or other things stated on this thread. Feminism has gotten a very VERY bad name. There is not one kind of feminism! (Angela: I am not addressing you in particular. I accidentally hit "reply with quote" and am too lazy to start over.) :)

Professor,
I'm very curious about what you have to say.

If there are different types of feminism, then could you please explain these different types, and their major contentions?

Thanks.

I agree not all feminists are pro-abortion. I know there is even an organization for pro-life feminists. Nor do they all support gay marriage. I think feminism is the outgrowth of inequities between gender. That means things like unequal pay for the same work. It means unqualified men being promoted over a qualified woman. It means fighting for the rights of the poor and downtrodden, although of course there are men that also are doing this.

Feminism is a beautiful idea in principle. I think it is great Professor you are pursuing your calling. There will always be people who try and limit the potential of others.

Christ came to set us free, and that means to follow him, whether that is against the crowd or not. I personally think feminism is very much in line with Christian principles, when you actually look at what it stands for. Sadly, many have taken the movement to extremes which reject men, espouse sexual freedom and wander from the very ideas upon which the movement was started. But that does not mean that we should be calling feminists "Jezebels" How very sad that people have never taken the time to really examine the scriptures and to find out that God calls us all to stand against injustice. For me, that is the essence of what feminism should be, and of what God demands.

"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8
