My mom has made Upma with oats, which tastes good. I have wanted to make oats congee for awhile with ginger mushroom and spinach.
Yes I do that, but I call it oatmeal risotto 😁
I saute onion and garlic, add mushroom, then the oats lightly coat it and then add water, simmer down until cooked, add a bit of butter and cream.
variations, add some spinach or other vegetables.
or I make a Dal makhani,
Before I saute, I fry the cumin and then do the first step, add turmeric powder, gram masala powder. Add cream and butter optional.
