I wanted to listen to heavy metal type music. I wanted to get metallica, but just read something on christian chat forums that changed my mind about it. I read on google that most if not all christian heavy metal bands are really satanist. Is there any true christian heavy metal bands?

Christian metal is some murky territory. Whether or not a so-called Christian metal band are truly Christian will probably depend on who you ask. You'll have to do a lot of research on the bands you like and find out about them. I'd just use the "know them by their fruit" test.

From what I've seen, many Christian metal bands seem to want the best of both worlds. They like thinking their sins are forgiven but don't want to give up their worldly ways. They justify touring with evil, wicked and worldly bands by saying they're "evangelizing" them and think they can be positive role models for them. They could be a lot better role models if they gave up their associations with these bands.

A big part of the problem with all contemporary Christian music artists is they've sold their souls for success.

There ya go. That's a thread where we posted a LOT of Christian metal in the first few pages, then talked a lot about what Christian metal is in the last few pages. Enjoy!

I started listening to Christian 34 years ago. I mostly did so until a few years ago. I don't listen to many new bands anymore, but pulp out old ones sometimes.
Some people are sensationalists. Some religious. Some find evil in everything they dislike. And all those people like to make their opinion the only truth.
When I was younger and going to concerts I saw a lot of preaching on stage, even in secular venues. I'd see some people worshipping at the shows. Or encouraging people to talk to them after they show if they wanted to learn more.
Some of the bands make their lyrics very obvious and maybe a bit preachy even. Others take less direct approaches.
Is every person in every Christian band a Christian? Probably not. Are all that are Christians perfect? Absolutely not.
But being in a Christian band isn't exactly a money maker. Most modern Christian bands can't keep up with their secular counterparts. Adding in the traditional bias against Christian bands from the secular market resulting in a lack of ever getting very big, isn't exactly a big selling point to fake it.
Listen for yourself. Decide for yourself. If you decide it's not for you, no problem. That's your perogative. If you get something out of it. Great. Then continue.

My personal experience with it, especially as a teen, was that I learned about the bible from it. Got encouraged by it. Had fun at their concerts. Met some cool people at the shows. And learned more about the world around me and the struggles people faced. Even tried to make some bands myself, back then.
Most Christian Metallica influenced bands are from the 90s, before the Black album.

I thought you were going to say, "they've sold their souls to the devil." Well, I suppose you may as well have...

Thank you, I will check out some of them. I did buy 'heaven or hell' by slaves wage.

I was thinking that the best and true christian metal bands, we will never hear about, as they do not sing for glory or money. You would have to happen to see them in church one day, even if that.

More "screaming". And clearly Satanists making the music. You can tell by the comments made about the song and the lyrics.

the truth about metal music: no matter what style is applied to "metal" music, the definition , by society, especially in recent decades, is heard & discerned in the in the heavy sound, chords, rebellion in current events (so much in government & political maneuvers), cultural influences & all social economics. Christian metal music, for me, is a no-no. my feeling is God nor Jesus approves of it. supplemental: after listening to Daigle, Layton, Blanca & Battastelli, metal doesn't fit for me.

The CD from slaves wage arrived, 'Heaven or Hell'. My opinion is this is good CD, except for one song I didn't like, 'All Alone'. The song that was sounding like romance.

It happens. Chris Rice slipped "lemonade" into one of his albums. Paul Porter tried to get away with "I want to know what love is," as if that's a Christian song. All the other songs on their albums were Christian, but they slipped a little romance in there.

They were okay. Whiteheart was better. IMO. (YMMV)

Is fleshkiller band really christian? I want to try out the awaken album. I know they have christian lyrics, but wonder about the band members.

It seems they are or have been affiliated with Facedown Records. That is a well known Christian record label focusing on hardcore and metal. I don't really keep up anymore but in the past they had a solid reputation for putting out Christian bands.
Also the singer was formerly in Christian band Extol, that began in the 90s. Those guys were quite popular in the scene back then.
I recently saw an older interview with him (after starting Fleshkiller) where he was talking about the various musical things he works on and one of them was gospel related.
So if I had to wager between his old band, the record label and his talk of working on gospel projects, I'd say he's legit. Best you can do without knowing pepple personally.

Isn't it hard to tell the difference between Beethoven and Metallica?

I often think of TSO as what some of the great classical composers would have made if they had modern instruments. Some of those classical pieces were trying VERY hard, sooooooo incredibly hard to be "hard" but they were limited by the instruments of the time.

I can imagine one as a teen asking the others, "Shall we be gathering for a confiture session in Ludwig's carriage once this Saturday is come upon us?"
