Since joining CC close to 4 months ago, it has been really disturbing to me to see how some of these forums that are supposed to be discussions of The Bible and such are not much more than arguing and bashing, name calling and what not. What happened to edifying and loving one another as God commanded? Heard a commentary on the local radio station concerning fellowship and brotherly love just the other morning. Basically it stated that non-believers fellowship and show caring and compassion for one another more than believers. Wow!!

Please note "some of these forums"...not all. Think there is a way to make them better? Not trying to ruffle any feathers...just in disbelief at some of the posts read in some forums. God bless.

I have chosen to stay away from them. As so many believers have different beliefs. We all agree on GOD....but not all agree on everything...say infant baptisms. Since each person is so passionate about their beliefs they argue to the point of forgetting about compassion and kindness. It has been and always will be a battle. I am sorry you are disappointed by others actions. But please remember we are all sinners and all have opinions. Its what makes us the same yet unique. You can be like me and enjoy christian fellowship in the more laid back forums!

I have a bible app on my phone that has a "verse of the day" every day. One particular day, there was a spat going on in the bible study chatroom. Well, I don't much care for debates, so I left the chatroom and checked my phone; oddly enough, this was the verse of the day that day:

"I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought."-1 Corinthians 1:10

Yeah... there is certainly a divide/disconnect here on CC. Many of the regulars tend to gravitate towards only a select few forums - sometimes maybe only one - sort of exclusively. It's kind of like attending church, in a sense. Lol.

Please note "some of these forums"...not all. Think there is a way to make them better?
Nah, because the problem isn't the forums, it's the people.

If you see "name calling", you can report the person.

But you can't expect people to have a debate without debating.

Also, the forum is open to the public.
As long as it's open to the public, and debate is allowed...
people are going to have problems.

No way to make them better. I've seen many people try, and each one fails. Been like that for years. And we all know you mean the BDF.

I dont believe its so much just debating thats an issue, its probly more just people losing control of their emotions when debating. Debating can actually be a good thing to do, you will sometimes have someone come in and make a thread wanting to teach something that is not right and actually dangerous, like imagine if someone came into the BDF and made a thread about how Christ wasnt the Son of God who took the place of the lamb for your salvation, but was just another prophet. Wouldnt you want to come into the thread and totally rebuke that person, and help keep those who read their argument from walking away into a lie? Its a good thing to debate if someone is wrong.

Don't worry. Once it gets to you, you do what almost everyone else does -- give up on BDF or quit CC. This gives ample room for those arguing to keep up their childish ways.

Excuse me. I'm going through withdrawl symptoms, because I'm still in the process of giving up BDF. Right now I'm trying to just respond to the positive posts. That said, since the children are in control, eventually, if enough people respond, they have need to reply too, thus making it less edifying. Kind of like trying to quit smoking, but only being at cutting back. Eventually, I'll figure out it's all or nothing, but I'm not there yet.

I understand what you are saying and I have no idea how to fix it.
I can fix it in me. When ever I start to feel the flesh getting frustrated. I back off. I refuse to play the game.

Key phrase: supposed to be

People expect, just because you're christian, you should be everything the bible says you are. Supposedly, yes. But we're all thriving and sadly, that is not the case yet. If we expect every Christian on CC to be what we think a Christian should be, we're doomed to get disappointed, frustrated and end up only hurting ourselves trying to figure out a way to change them.

In the same sense, a third of the world's population are Christians, yet what do we hear in the news everyday? What happened to being salts of the earth?

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You - Isaiah 26:3

My point is, if we look to Christ, in every dealing with people, we will realise that in spite of our imperfections, Christ chose to die for us. And that greatly changes our perspective and the way we live with others.

The solution is within us. Like Kefa says, let's just fix ourselves by loving God, loving others.

PS: The greatest commandment, is to love. And love covers all wrongs. Love them and life will be so much better.

Perhaps designated Moderators for the worse of the worst, where there is a high crime area in my city the Police Department increase their presence and call for cruisers to drive around the area.

I see the Bible Battle Field as a training ground. After all, we are kidding ourselves if we swallow that malarkey that when we are living in the Heavenly "state", all our thinking and opinions will suddenly be exactly like our "Christian" neighbor's.

That would be to turn us into auto-robots... and that is something God NEVER intended for any of us. So, we will have to learn to get along then ("there", to the "Heaven is a Location" people.) Might as well get a head-start on it here and now....... We're all gonna be stuck with these same people when we transition.

Would you believe it's not just Christians?

That's just people. Can't live with them, can't ship them all to a deserted island. (I know, I tried. Even though the island was deserted, they got shipped right back.) :p

I wonder what would happen to a thread on here carrying the name 'You're all *insert bad word from excerpt in post above* who don't understand Grace'?:p

I never saw that one. But I do know how to win an argument like that. The only winning move is to not play.

Some people almost exclusively participate in the bible discussion forum and its rare to see them in any other forum.

CC goes through phases. When I first joined, there was a huge demographic of Catholics that surged the Bible Discussion forum.

Currently, I think most of your clashes happen between the age +55, politically/religiously conservative, a little hellfire and brimstone types, and the under age 55, politically/religiously moderate/liberal, peace and love everyone types.

And then over there in that dim-lit corner are the KJV onlys, Jehovah's Witnesses, and rock-is-evil types.

take 'responsibility' for her own actions!

to see our HOPE in Jesus for mankind manifest itself, is awesome, to say the least......
