Hi I’m struggling with cross dressing issues and would love to hear some uplifting things to help get out of this. I’m a Christian and praying constantly for release from this. It has been a real struggle especially for a man that didn’t think it would be a problem. Thanks to all and God bless

Why type of clothes are you wearing and why do you feel the need to cross-dress?

Well the whole girly wardrobe basically. It started in when I was 12 and not sure what triggered it again later in life but stress really brings it out

Hi...
Well first of all , we are told to flee such temptations that come from the devil...
Your habit has formed over the years , but you can help yourself through God given you strength...

You could throw every bit of women's clothing away , cut them all up so you are not tempted to dig them up out from the bin...

God made you man , not women , God is not a God of confusion , that comes from Satan...

Here is a small piece from Got Questions...
I hope it helps you...

Deuteronomy 22:5 deals with the issue cross-dressing / transvestism (men dressing in women’s clothing and vice versa). In this passage God commands that a woman is not to wear that which pertains to a man and a man is not to wear that which pertains to a woman, for all that do so are an “abomination.” The Hebrew word translated “abomination” means "a disgusting thing, abominable, in the ritual sense (of unclean food, idols, mixed marriages), in the ethical sense of wickedness." Therefore, this is not simply God addressing the fact that a woman might put on a man’s garment or vice versa. Also, this is not a command that a woman should not wear pants/slacks as some use this passage to teach. The meaning here is that this “cross-dressing” and transvestism is done in order to deceive, or to present oneself as something that he/she is not. In other words, this speaks to a woman changing her dress and appearance so as to appear to be a man and a man changing his dress and appearance so as to appear to be a woman. This is the definition of cross-dressing or a transvestism.

Drop any feminine articles of clothing off at Goodwill. Glad to have you onboard with us. I will say a prayer for God to add dress this issue. Welcome to CC.

Well, I see your profile says "married"
So first question is does your wife know about this struggle?
Next question: is this happening with her items or do you have a secret stash of things she doesn't know about ( and if there is a secret stash then by all means follow above advice and get it out of your household for starters.)

Do you cross dress in public or in private? Does your spouse know and if so what does she think? Does she participate? Do you have children and are they aware? Have you been faithful? Has this activity caused you any problems?

Yes my wife is aware of the problem but no she does not participate. I have my own clothes. Yes we have children and no they are not aware. I have been faithful to my wife and it does cause problems between us because she doesn’t approve of it, I don’t approve of it. It is like a horrible addiction that’s hard to break. I pray for release from it and get away from it for a while then come back to it. I usually dress in private and if in public it’s at night away from people. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I feel I’m slowly getting better but I know that the more people praying and my willingness to stop the better things will be

Thank you for your honesty, it's positive that you can speak so honestly about your issues.

In my personal experience such ingrained personal habits (addictions) are very difficult to overcome. My testimony is that with prayer, commitment and a Loving Savior, it is possible. Please be gentle with yourself, remember that in Christ the outcome has been assured. There will be victories but also many, many defeats and they can feel overwhelming. They are not final, victory is final but perhaps as soon as you want. Stay in prayer even when it is no more than a groan. Throw away your clothing, even if you slip-up and buy more. I threw my stash away and bought it back again many times; each time the victory lasted just a little longer. Many here are praying for you.

You have a loving wife who is your front line support, she loves you enough to disapprove. Your sacrifices are due her.

I'll pray for you.

I'm not saying this is the case with you, but I know a couple guys that this happens with that have no/weak male role models and dominant mothers- men tend to emulate what we see as dominant, so that's one way you can get cross-wired.

I don't know what your walk with God is like, but, If you've been saved since '94 and you're having an issue like this- it's likely because God wants you to get closer to him than you are. We're supposed to be calling on his name, when we are stressed, right? With unwavering faith that he will deliver us, right? (I'm not being critical- I only say this because I'm the kind of person that fell for the idea that we're not supposed expect God to help us- when that's exactly the opposite of the truth)

everytime the Israelites slipped up they cried out to God and God still stretched out his arm and saved them so He is your GO TO

None of us are without our struggles in fact Israel is actually named after the fact that Jacob struggled (or wrestled) with God.

To get victory though we need to understand that God wins everytime and to surrender to Him.

so next time you having a hard time and thinking grr I'll just go to my closet and cross dress to make myself feel better (or whatever)
instead of doing that think of what Jesus does he goes into his closet shuts the door and PRAYS. And this isnt a prayer of God please stop myself from dressing up. Its more like God how are YOU? What are YOU wearing today? What would you want me to wear Lord?

You'll come out after praying in that closet feeling and looking AMAZING.

@Ron1976

When I was struggling through a sinful situation (nearly daily at one point) I remember crying out to the Lord saying something like "I know this is wrong! And i don't want to be doing this! So why do I keep finding myself giving into this temptation to do something I know is so wrong and evil in Your sight Lord!?"
(Romans 7 is a good read about such)

This is the verse and the answer the Lord kept leading me to time after time:

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

I found this short article helps explain 1 Corinthians 10:13

Psalm 51 is also a helpful read.
Particularly verses 10; 15; &17

10) Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
(a great verse to pray over yourself)
15) O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare Your praise.
17) The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and a contrite heart,
O God, You will not despise.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
Hey Ron. Welcome.

The first thing to understand is the world, your flesh, and the devil are never going to stop tempting and assaulting you.
So these things are almost never accomplished with a one and done. Meaning "OK! I've defeated that temptation! I'm NEVER going to have to deal with that again."

This will make the Christian highly discouraged when they stumble AGAIN into the same sin.

But take heart! The second thing to understand is that Jesus has overcome ALL three! The World, the Flesh, and the Devil.

So if you are born again, YOU can overcome all three through Him. But again, this is not a one and done. You have to DAILY pick up your cross. Meaning crucify your flesh. You still inhabit it! Keep telling it that it is DEAD!

Daily Scripture reading.
Daily fellowship.
Daily prayer.
Daily taking every thought captive and not let the sin percolate in your mind.

The Israelites had to gather the manna DAILY. They couldn't do extra Bible reading, prayer, etc.... for the NEXT day. IT WOULD SPOIL!

This is a helpful video. It's mostly about porn, but the principals can be applied to all addictive sins.

Be Blessed!
