Got rid of cable like over a year ago and i cannot be happier. Just couldn't justify paying almost 150 per month (cable + INTERNET) when most of the time no one would even be home . Other than the news/sports/or the Jimmy Swaggart Station i dont have an interest in it . I really don't care about Kim K or the desperate housewives of __________ (fill in the blank) . Most tv's that are made today come with a built in digital tuner so u don't need a converter box for your local channels , just an antenna.

A digital tuner allows a TV to receive digital television (DTV) signals broadcast over-the-air by local TV stations.
To find out if one of your TVs has a built-in digital tuner, check the owner's manual or the TV itself for one of these labels:

• integrated digital tuner
• digital receiver
• digital tuner
• DTV
• HDTV
• ATSC
The following labels are not indicators of a built-in digital tuner:

• digital ready
• digital monitor
• HDTV monitor
• HDTV ready
TVs that do not have a built-in digital tuner will not receive over-the-air television unless they are connected to a digital converter box.

I haven't had cable ever as an adult. It's so unnecessary.
