ok so basically the other day at a bible study that just started the lady teaching it said she would take any prayer requests that we had. Well i really felt God tugging at my heart to ask her to pray for my brother. I felt really awkward going up there. Mostly everyone had left the class. SO i go up and ask and randomly and unexpectedly i start crying. OMG! It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO embarrassing!! And really awkward since i just met her and stuff. I feel so ashamed of myself. Any advice?

The act of praying or seeking prayer for another is a selfless act. Standing in proxy for your brother was a genuine act of faith which I'm sure benefited your brother, but God also knows your needs and is aware of your struggles. People often wonder why we don't experience more of the presence of God in our daily lives and in worship, but it is because some are only willing to wade so far into the depths of his presence, not willing to leave their comfort zone.

It is natural to want to be confident and in control at all times. We go to great lengths on a daily basis, not to do things that seem wierd or outside of the norm. Stepping out of our comfort zone is not easy, but when we do, we find that God is faithful and often rewards these seemingly
insignificant steps of faith.

When anyone is genuinely in the presence of God, they are often humbled or broken. This natural fleshly confidence, we strive so hard to maintain, gives way to the overwhelming power of the Holy Spirit and the things of the flesh begin to fall away in his presence.

Brokenness is often the gateway to blessing. Don't feel embarassed, we've all been there and if we're wise, we'll hope to be there again. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

Psalm 34:18 ... The LORD is close to them that are of a broken heart;
and saves those who are of a contrite spirit. ...

Thank you guys so much for your comments!! They really have helped me a lot this week. You really made me think about stepping out of my comfort zone which is something i definatly needed to hear this week. So many times it seems like i try to get out of my comfort zone and come across as this "good christian girl" and i honestly wasn't doing it for the glory of God. I was only trying to glorify myself, but i didn't realize it until after your comments, which i know might sound a little weird. God is so much bigger than me so much more powerful than i can comprehend and for some reason that day He wanted my heart to break and allow the HOly Spirit to consume me. It really was quite incredible now that i look back at it. I guess before then my ego was getting in the way and i needed to be humbled by God. Thank you so much for letting me see that situation in a totally different way! God bless you both! :)
