just a share:

for the first-time in my life, I witnessed something totally unique in my observances of nature:
(I'm a total natural/nature woman...
I witnessed (3)deer eating in our pasture 'with' 3 to 4 Jakes...it was an awesome, first-sight for such
an avid nature observer as myself' very, very pleasurable, along with lots of thanks to our
Heavenly Father for sharing this with me...

go 'outside' brethren - feel/breathe the presence of Jesus in each and every living/breathing thing...

I live next door to a family of mountain lions, and im curious, how do you guys feel about your local wild life.
I live in a city, so....
- Rats creep me out.
- Mixed emotions about mice. They're cute, but have no bathroom etiquette.
- Don't really like 6-legged or more-legged critters, but, hey, they eat my compost and make it into useable soil, so not a bad deal.
- Kind of like pigeons until they hog up all the bird food, and don't let the sparrows eat it. I really don't like them when they "drop" on hubby's shoulder.
- Sparrows are just so cute, I don't care if they're just feathered rats.
- I wouldn't mind the squirrels if they'd just eat the whole tomato, rather than taking one bite and leaving it. Really don't like them when they dig up my carrots, my squash, and mostly my fig tree. (Killed it. It was little.)
- Felt bad for the parakeet, since I knew it would die when winter came.
- Thought the hawk and sandpiper were cool.
- Love watching bee wars over the lavender.
- Love the admiral butterflies that always find our butterfly bush.
- Got all kinds of excited when a hummingbird showed up once.
- Worms are great for the garden but a bit creepy.
- Glad there is robin activity now. (We didn't used to have robins.) Don't like it when the male robin is finding a mate -- at least at 4:30 AM, but it's fine after 9 AM.
- Wish people knew their dogs barking all day and night are annoying.
- Mixed feelings about the cats. (Like them until they eat a sparrow. lol)

That's about it. Kind of boring wildlife in the city.

That's really cool. Yes, we love wildlife. We have many bird feeders out (we're in the city) but we're moving to a rural area at the end of the month and are building a new home on 10 acres so there will be more wild life out there.

I really think about the wild life lately because where im at,this place has lots of critters, way more than what im use to in Alaska.

You would think that Alaska has critters but its nothing compared to SD,rapid has lots of critters.

What got me really thinking about wild life is i saw a white squirral the other day which is a first for me,not a albino but a actual white squirral with brown eyes.

This place has literally 1000's of rabbits and stuff just running around inside the city.

In the 30 yrs that i spent in anchorage i saw maybe 1fox,1wolf,3 rabbits ,i guess that it has something to do with population or density or something.

Another thing that i was thinking about is this crow that steals stuff right out the bag,if you have a back pack or something,he will unzip the thing and steal your lunch, that happened at this golf course that i use to work at,on like the 2nd day working there a coworker that was driving the cart that i was in says "HEY ITS HIM!!" and punches it trying to run over a crow..

At the time i thought that this guy must be crazy or on some sick drugs, but one day i found my wallets contents strewn over like 50 ft or so.

I use to think that i would never harm a small animal, but this crow really tested my paitence

"And then there was that day we lost the deer for a while, and worried if the T. Rex could have eaten them all." lol

Surely they liked you, wild animals don't always show it in a way people do...
Yeah, when they're biting you and ripping flesh off yer bones... it's nuthin personal

That call 'em "wild" for a reason and firearms is a good way to run 'em off if need be.

I like the bumper sticker that says "There's room for all of God's creatures... right next to the mashed potatoes"...

I used to hunt pretty frequently, but haven't, the past several years.

I love venison, but I haven't harvested a deer in quite some time. The last couple of years that I hunted, I passed on several easy shots at deer.... just didn't want to take one. I DO like watching/observing animals, though.

Wild hogs are pretty good eating, too. They have achieved populations of a hazardous nature in Texas. I have no problem with killing as many of them as you can. A sow can have two or even sometimes three litters a year, of anywhere from 5 to 6 little piglets per litter. Do the math on THAT one....

I believe God put animals on earth for our use and enjoyment... but we have an obligation to treat them humanely..

When I was younger we rescued a jackdaw that had been attacked by a cat. He only had one eye working... After he recovered we let him free and he found a female and they had a family in a chimney of a house in a terrace across the road. We would call him and he would come and see us.
Eventually one day after a while of him going his own way due to his family commitments, he returned with pneumonia. We tried to get him well but unfortunately he died.

hahaha

i maybe the leech....
I know i started reading this thread the other day... but now cannot go thru all the replies again. Someone did say wildlife includes the flora (plants) too, right? We grew up appreciating the plants more, but a bro. who majored in biology, would have this stamp collection of wildlife, wc got me looking at exotic plants and animals. Here we have the monkey-eating eagle, the large-eyed tarsier, tamaraw (small buffalo). Here is the tarsier:

I was somehow thinking of the leech coz it is rainy again here and these do come out around sometimes. I'd be looking for some of those quiet (non-talking) wildlife again, incl. the waling-waling and some 1k species of orchids endemic to the Philippines.

Wild life? ...What wild life? Singapore doesn't have much of that...let alone the area near me.
