Wow. Maybe someone should have said “I will listen if you say something worth
listening to!”

But sometimes Miri can be a bit of a rebel! :p

Some christians do scold, scream, scold, scream, scold, scream at you all the time, and then throw in an "I love you in the Lord, Brother."

Confession time. What do you think when that happens?

(I don't do subtle, so don't really have to tell what I think. lol)
I don’t think I’ve experienced that, but there again I’m not married. :p

Well both later have names that start with "P" and both in some form were torn with Jesus at some point,Peter rejected Jesus three times,Paul formerly as Saul slew Jesus's followers in churches and sent some to prison, thereby being against Jesus.

Ive actually honestly never experienced this before : p

Id imagine that if it were a loved one, Id think they just got overly upset and need to cool off. If it were a stranger, Id think they are creepy and want to get away from them : p

I did have a Christian friend in my old life who would talk to me about why what I was doing was wrong from time to time, and Im glad he did : p He was my friend though, and I trusted him, so I was okay with having a conversation with my friend about our differences at the time.

That's why I included, "at you all the time." I expect people to call me out, if I need a calling out, but when someone scold, screams, scold, screams at me all the time, I can guarantee the person isn't friend or family. Not even boss or doctor.

But I have seen this happen three times in the last couple of days on this site, and after all the scold, scream, scold, scream, somehow the "...but I love you in the Lord, Brother" is supposed to absolve the nonstop assault.

I buy that like I would buy caviar-covered pate. (I hate liver, and just can't even get little fishy eggs into my mouth to see if I might like them. lol)

I couldn't take Bill Parcells as my coach in football, because all he did was scold, scream, scold, scream at the players. (And he was an excellent coach, so it worked.) Obviously, it works for some people. I'm just checking to see if any of those people are on this site.

It's sort of the spiritual equivalent of the quaint southern expression used after raking someone over the coals, then saying "bless your heart"......
Yup, that's a good ole suthern thang.

"She has such buck teeth, bless her heart, she could eat corn on the cob through chicken-wire."

"You know how he is, bless his heart. So crooked he could hide behind a split-rail fence. But I'm not one to gossip, so you didn't hear that from me. Nope."

Oh? Well Ive never seen that side of you here before, I generally think you are really pleasant : p

All the time though, that sounds like abuse to me. Would feel bad for anyone dealing with that. Its good to warn your brother, but not to shame them.

I think it is about the same as when someone writes: "Bless you!" I'm pretty sure that is Christianeze for: _____ you!

There is something seriously wrong with this guy. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would ever go this church:

I've seen these "big shots" first hand in IFB churches. They are the "heroes" of many who hope to "pastor" up to their level someday with their "leadership" skills and "boldness."

People are intimidated by this guy, controlled. Cultic behavior. Some of them will believe that was "some good preachin'!"

"You can't get this in any other church in town!" Thank God!

Somebody needs stand up to punks like this and tell them to stop and leave. Then you FedEx all his stuff in his office back to him.

When Standridge first boasted, "I'm important!", I knew whose message he was preaching.

It IS a very strange thing about humans, in that some of us actually seem to crave being brow-beaten like that. I think they really do believe that having that done to them is somehow a Spiritual thing. That they deserve it, and it will make them better, the more they let someone humiliate them. Like the foreign pilgrims who beat and cut themselves and climb long stone stairways on their knees to "prove" how filthy and unworthy they are.

Some people really like to be yelled at?
