take medication for depression? Like is it something I ought to pray about instead? Or is it ok to do both?

Hi Hethr, if you can't find the cause or a solution for your depression, sometimes medication can really help. I was on anti depressants for about 5 months or so. I was soo scared to go on them because I never thought it could help me in the long run. I was so worried that I would never be able to get off them or cope on my own. But really, I felt so much better, I didn't feeb abnormal anymore, my spirits were lifted and I took myself off the pills and I haven't looked back yet. I am so thankful to be off them, and feeling myself again. Somethings can be chemical, and some medications can just bring you out of a funk.. from my experiences anyways.
always let someone in to how youre feeling, things will look up! I'll be praying for you!

Actually my mom had to take them because of her devorce. It was so sad to see her suffer but they did help alot. One thing I think you need to know is God can do anything so don't just rely on them because then you will get addicted and that's not good. Also we should pray about everything that we do lol so I encourage you to pray!

I'm thinking there is a better path than drugs and I think you know that or you would not have made this post. I have found a fantastic fellowship online that has helped me come much closer to God and see things a new way. You might want to check out www.unleavenedbreadministries.org. You might seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit as well, see John chpt 14-16 and Acts chpt 1-2. Can you see Jesus prescribing drugs? Earnestly seek the truth and you will be free of the source of depression, not just treat it.

It's totally different to take a medication for depression if it's prescribed for you by a doctor. God did give doctors the wisdom & knowledge to help others. Luke was a physician in the Bible. I do believe the 1st person we need to go to is God but I don't believe there is anything wrong with going to a doctor & getting a medication to help your depression, seizures, asthma etc....

I dont suffer from depression, but from anxiety,i resisted medication for the longest time because i thought it was somehow wrong, but i started getting anxiety attacks so bad i would hypervenilate and pass out....So i fnally gave in and went to the doctor and got medicine... my quality of life has improved drastically since ive started taking it. I believe some people have chemical imbalances and need medication to regulate depression or anxiety, and some people i think it has alot to do with unresolved issues.
