I meant that to be "no different" not "mo different" lol.
Perhaps, perhaps not. Most people have a modicum of self pride and don’t let others see the dirty laundry. It is like shoving all the debris in a closet when a guest comes to your home.

Because normal is in fashion right?
Actually I think fancying oneself “unique” is in fashion. Once you fancy yourself unique, you are actually normal, because you are following the trend of being “set apart”.

I am normal as I fancy myself unique, and am just like everyone else who fancies themselves unique.

This makes me boring, a right tosser, in other words.

But what you may be observing may be artificial. Many people massage their personalities while posting online. I was able to convince most people here that I am completely sane for nearly a year. Your observations are not true to life, in other words.
So you're crazy like me?

But I doubt it that anyone has actually, at any point, believed that I'm sane.

Lol?

You are unique, just like everybody else :D

I like the saying: you are what you think, though not necessarily what you think you are

It does make me wonder, when people say things like, no two snowflakes alike, how in the world would they know such a thing? Every single snowflake has not been scrutinized in order to come to this conclusion faultlessly. It is an hypothesis only.

Its because snowflakes are organic, formed by nature. Just like there are no two people exactly alike (even twins have things diffrent about them), no two trees are exactly alike, no two stones, animals, lakes, starfish, etc...

Technically speaking, it is possible that two snowflakes might be exactly alike, but the odds of it happening would be infantessimal... like winning the lottery twice I guess...

I don’t know if our particular cases of insanity are similar or not.

Sociology classes opened my eyes to how much people are alike. One study found that the least used public restroom stall was the first one by the door. We all figure it is dirty or people can peep more easily or it is less private in some strange way. After that, I purposely use the first stall- to be contrary, to be different. If I were unique, I’d keep up the practice of skipping the first stall and not worry about being like everyone else.

Most human behavior is predictable given a certain set of circumstances.

We are all different, but I think there is a danger of elitism or pride in thinking one is set apart. I’m proud as a peacock in some ways.

I may yet surprise you in the observational department.

Sure, call me cynical. But almost everyone gets titillated by some sexy talk. What is a pure minded Christian to do? Reading and giving advice about things of an intimate nature seems a loophole. Titillation without the guilt- AND you are helping some one out with their loved one! Win, win situation.

Before I sound like a TOTAL female dog- I do believe this is on a subconscious level for the good people here. I am not condemning out right, I don’t know that a lot of people are into metacognition. The people who aren’t are probably happier.
oh I suppose we can explain in a way that satisfies ones dissatisfaction, but it is almost always a very bad play, with the characters assassinating one another in a way that reminds one of a Tarantino movie

the plot is long forgotten and it becomes a bar fight. I've honestly never seen anything like it, not any other forum I have belonged to. Freud would have a field day.

on the other hand, I am currently reading something quite interesting regarding modern psycho analysis with regard to neurosis and diagnosis. Seems more than one good doctor suspects that many that are labelled passive aggressive are actually covert aggressive.

really? LOL!

I'm not saying what I really think...just keeping it entertaining :)

I am rather hard headed. I don’t come to the conclusion that I am wrong by talking to people. Anytime I find out I am wrong about something, it must be proven wrong to me. I must need evidence that I am wrong.
Well G, you are wrong :p:eek:

Now on a more serious note, I have found people ingeneral on CC with an unteachable spirits. This includes me because I am going to a thread with preconceived ideas.

I know what I know and what I know is you are wrong if you differ from me… That is what we call pride and that was part of the problem in Eden. Adam blamed God for the wife He made him and Eve blamed the snake(pride). Not once do we see an effort from them to repent and ask forforgiveness.

If we are here to teach we need to be careful because theWord of God is clear that the teachers will be judged more harshly than the rest of the people.

I don’t think it is pride, refusing instruction from random strangers on the internet. I think it is great, good sense. Suppose I say I am a doctor, and convince all of you that I am a doctor. I throw medical terms around and post things with a great deal of authority. Someone asks me something of a medical nature, and I babble some nonsense. It would be the height of errant foolishness to be instructed by me.

If it is pride to refuse instruction without knowing someone’s bona fides, then I would rather be proud than instructed by someone who is babbling nonsense. I get students asking me this question ALL the time “How come you are an art teacher?” GREAT question. What makes me qualified to tell them ANYTHING about art? They are checking out my bona fides.

There is a very famous Educational Instructor named Harry Wong who says teachers should hang their diplomas and teaching certificates in their classrooms. This way, the students can see that their teachers are qualified to teach.

Not to be rude, but I did not understand this post. I am sure the problem is on the receiving end and not the transmitting end. I’m not being passive aggressive, I really don’t understand what it is you are saying.

You would do better going to a mall to observe people. That way, you are in a real environment. This is artificial. If you are seeking to observe Christians, a church would be a better way to observe. Your observations about people’s interactions online would have no scientific merit.

I understand where you are coming from but if we all need a qualification to have an opinion on Christianity very little people (even on CC) would have an opinion.

If I asked you questions based on your PhD background I would still test it by either reading about it or going to a real doctor. The problem is we are all in different churches and with 40 000+ denominations there are many opinions floating around. We have a saying in church "let the word of God explain the word of God". The Word is not open for interpretation because every question is answered in the Bible. It is our duty to find the nuggets of gold in ABBA Father's word.

Unfortunately an unteachable spirit is pride, if somebody try to teach me something it is my responsibility to investigate it and take it or leave it. The problem on CC is that the pastor's opinions are being defended by us as if we had the revelation from Holy Spirit :) .

I don’t think refusing to be taught by someone online, whom you have no way of examining, is being unteachable. Opinions are great, talking is great, but I find it foolish to use this site as a way to learn about God.
