Dear all, it will be a miracle if I can get an advice here. I am actually doing a shift-work roster for my job.

I'm finding ways for excel to automatically fetch the respective name of the employee right after choosing his/her shift via a drop box.
(e.g. For Tom, under the column of date, say 3 October, I rostered him under morning shift. Right after the action of choosing morning shift from the drop box, I want excel fetches the text "Tom" & copy and paste to another tab or spreadsheet. )

I think it will really take a miracle for someone in the Christian forum to answer me on this.

I will try it anyway, thanks in advanced for even reading my post.

This actually belongs in the user-2-user tech forum, where it will get more replies. I know nothing about Microsoft Excel. I can ask a mod to move this to the other forum for you, if you wish. :)

Hmmm.
I myself know little about Excel, but just so that others who want to help know when trying to answer;
Are you looking for a "point - and - click" way of doing this, or can you program in VBA?

Hi wwjd_kilden, thanks for responding. Anyway, as long via Excel I'm so much happy to do it. I need a reference, guide or something :) Say like what is the formula etc.. if VBA, then what script etc.

Hi, I have went through it, its not.

Perhaps I should be clearer, the kind of roster is something like that below. I will be able to choose the shift type in the column under each date. The shift type will be in a drop-box. So for e.g. For 1 July 2009, if I choose morning shift, excel will fetch data of the respective name whose shift I chosen, in this case the text "Benno" should be retrieved by Excel which I want it to paste to other tabs/spreadsheet automatically.
