What are some of your favorite movies and shows? And tell me why!
Maybe I'll choose a few of yours
Movies... I have so many...
War of the Worlds (1953): Like classic sci-fi. The movie was dark, we weren't going to beat a more advanced race on our own power. I liked those warships, too.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (1954, 2019): Love big dinos.
The Matrix: Fascinating concept. But, eerily reminds me of a childhood fear I had.
Terminator 2: Good mixture of story, humor, seriousness, and ground-breaking visual effects.
King Kong (1933): Ground-breaking animation / VFX.
Saving Private Ryan, 1917, Fury, Dunkirk, Darkest Hour: Well-done, dark war movies. They show heroism, good vs. evil, fantastic acting performances, and you get a feel for what it must have been like to be in those battles, the fear, the shock of watching your buddies getting blown up, your own moral dilemmas...
Scrooge (1951). Alistair Sim's performance was, IMO, the hands-down best of anyone to play this part. I really felt this guy's relief at his repentance.
Casablanca: Just a good story, good acting.
Liar Liar: Good comedy, good story, good dramatic acting on Carrey's part.
Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country: Best of the original series movies, overall, in my opinion. Well-written, good story.
I also enjoyed
Toy Story a lot. Great all-around story. No holes, cute, heart-warming. Those Martians are UH-DORABLE!
It's a Wonderful Life: Too heart-warming. I have to fight back the tears at the end.
And, one I must define as the perfect movie:
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Why? Great, engaging story, great humor (none of it dirty), no plot holes, and it had me falling off my friend's couch in a near-death experience of laughing so hard ("May I take your trident, sir?").
