Superman and Jesus: Superman's Origin and Parallels to Jesus (Article)

...a couple of parallels not in video:

- Superman wears a blue suit. Blue was the color of the Law of God (Numbers 15:38-39). Christ is the Word made flesh (John 1:14); the Spirit of the law (its embodiment).

- Superman wears a red cape. Red is the color of the blood; the life. Christ when he returns wears a robe dipped in blood (Revelation 19:13).

Superman is THE most popular superhero the world over...

Could it be that the world seeks Christ, they just don't want to admit it? Or do you think the world has purposely created a replacement to direct people away from the truth (remember our war is not against flesh and blood)?

I can't say that there are any parallels between Christ and superman. However, I'm a comic book fan, and I read a Reader's Digest article that said superman was Jewish. Superman's real name is Kal-El. Kal-El as in Isra-el and the prophets Samu-el and Dani-el. It means God. Kal is similar to the Hebrew words for “voice” and “vessel.”

The creator of superman was Jewish, and he used a lot of info from his historical background to develop the superman character.

Yeah just wondering what people think...

I can't deny the parallels between the narrative & characteristics of the fictional character and that of Christ; and yup I learned that a couple of Jewish men created the character too...but in the world's love for this fictional character; Could it be that the world is simply seeking Christ and they just don't want to admit it? Or do you think this is a subtle way of trying to replace Christ over the decades by direct people away from the truth to an alternative?

Uh well Jesus is pretty awesome. But Superpunk is quite possible the worst superhero of all time. Random powers always popping up deus ex machina style, refusal to actually stop crime permanently so criminals just break out and go on more sprees and kill more people. Not too mention he is a DC character and they suck, and finally he is far too goody two shoes. Good superheroes would be like...Cyclops, Superior Spider Man, Wolverine

Many, anti-Christs have come into the world. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

God can do all things. Others cannot do all things.
