The Roman Counting System
We are going to count using the Roman Numerals.
Symbols and Values:
M=1000, D=500, C=100, L=50, X=10, V=5, I=1
If two symbols are side by side:
Smaller symbol on the left, subtract to the larger
Smaller symbol on the right, add to the larger
Examples How To:
Number 567
500 + 60 + 7 same as D + LX + VII, therefore 567 is DLXVII
Number 891
800 + 90 + 1 same as DCCC + XC + I, therefore 891 is DCCCXCI
