Exodus 21:22

Easy-to-Read Version

22 “Two men might be fighting and hurt a pregnant woman. This might make the woman give birth to her baby before its time. If the woman was not hurt badly, the man who hurt her must pay a fine. The woman’s husband will decide how much the man must pay. The judges will help the man decide how much the fine will be.

This thread is not about abortion for the simple reason the woman did not go to a doctor to have a baby murdered.

It simply shows that similar laws existed in the ANE.

1771, BCE, code of hammurabi

The Book of Exodus was written between 1440 and 1400 B.C.

That is based on the date of the exodus. I think it is hard press for a critic to say Moses copied from Hammurabi. But, the two texts demonstrates that the Law Moses wrote is in line with ANE culture and Laws. It would be a good proof that the OT is historical.

And it may also reveal we have yet to find the oldest evidence of either.
That is what I gleaned for a British National Museum teaching on such events.
